Sorry, but how do I start?

I understand that I have a choice of selecting from 3 missions or flights, but how do I actually do that?  There are no space shuttle missions listed as "missions", nor can I load them as flights.  I haven't been able to find anything in the manual to explain this.

Thanks for the help.

The shuttle flights (missions) are in your Documents/Flight Simulator X files (My Documents/Flight Simulator X files), they are named Entry, TAEM and APPROACH. When you first start FSX in Free Flight, select Load and then look for the one you want to fly (Entry, TAEM or Approach) and away you go.

If you fly the Entry flight, it starts paused. Unpause it and let the flight go on it's way. It's in SLEW mode and I think it pauses at the point where you can take control and fly it. It's just a huge "glider" often referred to as a "flying brick". It is fun, but it isn't easy either.

In the MANUAL Part I – User’s Manual, page 6 gives you some information on the flights.

Hope this helps

If they are there, you should be able to fly them. When you select, say, Entry, does it look like what mine looks in the image? You are clicking on the FLY NOW! buttonto start the flight?

No.  It just says no flights available.  I have no other saved flights.  The files must be in the wrong place.  I will make up a flight, save it and see where it ends up.

Thanks.

Go to your Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Captain_Sim\sso\flights folder, copy all the files in there, then go to your Documents\Flight Simulator X files (My Documents\Flight Simulator X files in WinXP) and paste them in there. Start FSX and load one of the flights (Entry, TAEM or Approach) because they should be.

Thank you.  It worked.  I was also wondering if there was any way to stay in orbit or if the only choice was down.  Thanks again for the help.

The only way to move around in orbit is to use SLEW.

In the FLIGHT MANUAL Part I – User’s Manual, page 6, it says:

Using SLEW mode controls it is possible to orbit the Earth and perform various in-orbit operations.

Note:
MS FS animations do not work in SLEW mode. Temporary switch SLEW mode OFF to control animated systems
.

So reading the manuals is very helpful.

Hi pedroshere.

Try repairing the Space Shuttle by running css001_1100.exe again and, when it gives you the option to Repair or Remove, select Repair. See if that fixes it. If it doesn't, try uninstalling and then reinstalling it.

Unfortunately, there is no Launch phase. You either start at the ENTRY, TAEM or APPROACH phase of the flight.
