I'm searching all threads for answering my question, but probably overlooking or missing the knowledge to know what to look for.

My question is:
Is there a relative easy way to fly a route on auto pilot and let the 727 aircraft finds its way through the waypoints when you do an IFR flight.
I know how to do it with the default B737 combined with the GPS system, but already figured out the GPS system in the B727 is only for positioning and it won't follow the course displayed. Also, if this is possible and how to, does this also work for the B707?

I have flown many flights in the 727 using the default FS Flight Planner and GPS. You need to either edit the panel.cfg or set a keyboard shortcut for the NAV/GPS Switch (the CS 727s don't come with the switch). My shortcut is CTRL+SHIFT+N. I have also added the default C172 Nav/GPS Switch to the 727 2D Autopilot Panel so you can actually see that it is set to either NAV or GPS (as well as click on it to change between NAV/GPS).

This is the changes I made to all of the 727 panel.cfg's:

If you edit any other than the -100 passenger variant, the window is different because the path to gauge00 differs on -200 and all freighters.
So if you just copy and paste there, you'll loose the AP 2D panel because the gauge can't be found then. That is what you are describing in my eyes.

I've hopefully made this difference clear in my INS thread (as there are different windwo03 templates for the variants) and if you use Marks's modification on -200 and freighters, you should be aware of this too.

Sounds like you are using two AP popups now because you just added one more window instead of replacing or modifying the already existing one.

If you just follow Mark's bold marked values without replacing the whole window03 entry, you should be good to go and get some additional buttons on the AP panel to have GPS abilities.

For the INS solution, I recommend reading the thread once more and especially focusing on the different variants values and entries.


Maybe Mark can help on combining both possibilities (INS and GPS mode) and post this on the INS thread or here.
As I don't use the GPS at all on this plane, I can't help there.

The red colored line tells FSX that the gauge is in the CS_B727-100\panel folder. By doing it that way, it saves space by not having to put the gauges in all the different models panel folders.
