Tutorial anyone?

Love this plane but now realize this beauty is much more complicated to fly than the 767 or 757. As it doesn't look like CS will issue any tutorials, I would welcome any help from the fellow simmers.

Anyone? Thank you!

I also have asked for one but it will have to come from one of us as CS says they don't do tutorials for their aircraft.

I'm in the same plane. I"ve posted a request but have not got a response. Tried to use the start-up in the manual and still can't get it started. Shift-G does not work for ground power in FSX, it may work for FS9, don't know. Hope I didn't waste $70.00. I have been looking on the web for something that may work, if I find anything I'll let you know.

Hi Jesse.

Many of us had trouble starting it when we first got it. It seems like we have all figured it out now (I can start mine easily, every time now). See this Topic HERE for more help on starting the 707.

Once you get it figured out, you will be able to start it first time, every time.

One gotcha: if you take a long time before trying to start engines, that can result in them being unable to start.  That happened to me, for example, in taking these screenshots.

Tim,
Thanks for the tutorial.
I found an interesting help. If  engines some reason doesn't start after Tim's tutorial, I select "Aircraft Select" and reload the 707. Implement the above procedure, engines starts with out any problem.

Much thanks to Markos and Tim Capps, finally got her started and it was great. Took her up for a quick spin, still trying to figure things out but starting to really like this plane. Have more time now to really get into it.

You should have used a faster shutter speed on the camera Tim! Grin Grin Grin Just kidding. Nice work!

When I tested that the other day, I turned on the External Power, External Air, had everything set the same as you have shown us there and I didn't start the engines. I walked away from my computer for about 35 minutes and I was still able to start the engines. I have not tried it beyond that length of time yet. So it is a question of how long before you are no longer able to start the engines.

From what I saw the reason is that the battery drains even if external power is on and the ammeter does not show a negative load on the battery! Watch the battery voltage going down while you prepare for engine start. Below a certain voltage there is no way to start the engines.

If you have a registered copy of FSUIPC give the battery unlimited life, that get's this problem solved - Mark I guess that's why you don't see the problem as well.

Mark,
If all starting procedures completed and engine didn't start, you have one more chance start with Ctrl+E. If nothing happen, in my experience it will not start any longer. Just try "select Aircraft" reload the 707 again, all engine will start . Wink Wink

Think I found the problem with the battery.  Thinking "electric_always_available=1" worked on all the other Captain Sim airplanes, I checked the electrical section in the aircraft config file.  Lo and behold, it was already there!  But upon closer look, "available" is misspelled.  Correct the spelling and I bet the problem goes away.

SmileyThanks for the offer- I for one wouldn't mind a short flight tutorial covering evrything except for engine startup which Tim already covered.
