757-200 Range. Is it correct?

I wanted to test the limits of my CS752. Therefore I planned a full pax + cargo flight from CDG to MEX (About 5100nm) which is just over 1000nm over the max range of the 752 (About 4000nm). I chose this route since it would take me over JFK CLT and other airports I could divert to. I filled the tanks to 100% and my GW was 5100lbs above Max GW. On the ground at CDG the FMS messaged me saying fuel was insuficient, something I already knew.
The thing is after several step climbs and a pretty much direct flight, I made it to MEX while flying on reserves. I landed perfectly and got quite impressed with the 752 range. But now I'm wondering how realistic the plane actually is if one of its basic performance numbers seems to be incorrect. Is there a possibility that a real commercial 757 could make this trip? Have any of you experienced this 'superior' range?
