How to get winglets?

I went through the ACE, selected my repaint in the list, and checked the winglet box, saved. And opened up the ACE again to make sure the check box was still checked. But going in the game, no winglets! How do I get winglets on a repaint? This is for the -200F model. Thanks

I believe the 2.4 installer does not add the winglet model to the freighter folders. For both the -100F and -200F the only model folders I have are:
model.f
model.f_re

But for the passenger version I also have,
model.re_another company

This must be why the winglets do not show up for either freighter, but do for passengers.

Hi.

I read this topic a while ago, but have looked into it in the last half hour or so. Yes! You can do it.

In the 727 ACE, under Aircraft type, look for 727-100 another company Freighter. I had both the DHL and KFC freighters listed as another company. Neither one was showing up with the Wingtips. I checked (placed a "tick") in Winglets for the DHL and saved. It now has the Wingtips. It must be saved BEFORE you move to the next variant or model!

This also applies to the 727-200 Freighter.

Happy flying.

Mark

EDIT: I did this a couple of times and now they are listed

KFC -> 727-100 Freighter.
DHL -> 727-100 another company Freighter.

What about the -200F? In the aircraft.cfg ui_wglts=1 is listed, but they still don't show up

I had to do the same for the 727-200F as I did for the 727-100F. Wink

I have found that sometimes the ACE for the Captain Sim planes states that is does or doesn't have winglets and that turning them on, then off and then back on (clicking on SAVE after each change) they appear as they should. Although in the latest versions of the 767 (1.4) and 757 (4.4) they are correct to start with and it is no longer necessary to do that.

I have not yet figured out how Captain Sim have done this in the latest version. As you know, in the earlier versions they actually had .mdl that was the the model with the winglets. It could be a built in code (xml) that the line ui_wglts=1 triggers to make it visible. But I'm just taking a guess.

Hope this helps.

I have tried, that, still no luck. I am using a custom flight sim installation path C:\games\flight simulator x and win7 x64bit. I run the ACE as administrator though

Hi.

There is something strange going on here. I CAN'T get my 727-200F's to show winglets now.  Huh They did when I first posted about doing it for the 727-200F because I didn't want say something that wasn't true. I even took my FedEx 727-200F with winglets for a flight. Now it's gone. Sad 727-100F's are still working correctly.

Just so you know. I have FSX installed in E:\Flight Simulator X. It is on a separate 500GB HDD that is for FSX and all the add-ons I have for it. So I don't think that that would be a problem. Wink

Did you guys solve this?

I like those winglets but can't activate them for some repaints

=> meaning I cannot change this for any model... if it has winglets to begin with it has winglets and if not it doesn't

edit:

oh and KB #4704 is about the fact that you cannot enable winglets if the checkbox is greyed out, which it is not...

I think we will have to wait for the release of the next update (v2.5) to solve this problem. There is nothing on the "Calender of updates" for when that will be, so it could be a while.

I have wrestled a little bit with this issue, and here's what I have learned.

1) For the pax models (-100 and -200), to get winglets you have to edit the aircraft.cfg as follows:
model=another company (or re_another company)

To be consistent you should edit the ui_type= to read:
ui_type=727-100 another company (or 727-100 another company/RE).

2) For the freighters, the display of winglets (or not) is controlled by the freighter system gauge it seems, not aircraft.cfg entries.  I got the -100F winglets to display consistently, but couldn't seem to get the -200F winglets to display at all. Sad
