CS767 v1.4 Issues: GPWS, rudder and autobrakes
Jan 21st, 2010 at 12:41pm
Print Post
Hi all,
I've recently bought the CS767 base pack so I have v1.4. I'm having the following frustrating issues I'm not able to resolve:

1) Autobrakes don't work: While in flight, before landing, if I set autobrakes, the knob quickly returns back to the disarm position. There is no way to let autobrakes work. The RTO mode work just fine during T/O.

2) It appears that the rudder is not in a "clean" position. During taxi the aircraft tends to turn right. I constantly need to apply rudder correction to go straight. That is really frustrating... Also while in flight the aircraft tends to turn right and frequent adjustment are needed. However most of the flight is done by autopilot so it's not a huge deal. But it's unacceptable to apply constant correction during taxi.

3) It appears that some sound is missing: I can't hear any v-speed call during take off, no GPWS warning, no alert sound when reaching desired altitude. Neither crew voice and/or any co-pilot calls. I can't even hear the "clicks" when I press any button. Engine sounds, APU sound, packs sound work just fine. CS says that the 767 comes with Crew voice messages but actually I can't even hear the "basic" voice/calls.

Have you encountered those issues? Is there any way to fix those? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Happy landings,
Daniele

Hi! Daniele,
I have encountered the same problem with the autobrakes returning to disarm but, this happens to me right after touchdown not during approach...regarding the rudder, i have no issues, maybe you need to calibrate the joystick? as for the crew voices, those are only the messages like "fasten your seat belts...yada yada" and those buttons are in the OH panel..there are no other crew voices or V speed call outs except the GPWS with 500, 100, 50, 40, ....10. and minimum. if these sounds are not working then you will find other posts on how to get them back...I think this also works for alt warning horns
hope this helps

Daniele,
I think your problem with the aircraft turning right is the same as mine http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1263952756 except you are querying the rudder whereas I think it is an engine power imbalance. I suspect an engine power imbalance as I have calibrated my joystick and found no errors. On touchdown, engine power (No 1 & 2) and P&S brakes are coupled by their respective individual control key/button so there should be nothing assymetric about their operation(s).
Additionally all engine and control indications appear normal with no imbalances.
Ian

hi guys, thenk you for the replies!
I played a bit more with the CS767 and here is what I found:

1) removing and installing again the product fixed the autobrake issue. now it is working fine!! Smiley not sure what happened at the first installation... weird..

2) the plane is still stering to the right if I enable the joystick (CH products). The configuration appears to be ok, all other FSX and payware aircraft are working fine. Still investigating how to fix that... For now, I'm just taxiing using the keyboard.

3) no way to let GPWS and other calls working. In the support page I discovered that CS team is trying to fix these sound issues. I'm waiting for a new release!

that's all for now. I'll keep you posted!

Ciao,
Daniele

1) Set it at 3000 feet and get back to me and see what happens.

2) Same issue for me, inflight go ALT>Options>Settings>Controls>Calibrate  and calibrate your JS.

3) Go to your Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder in Program Files>Captain Sim>767>sound.cfg and change "SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=1" to "SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=0"

Hope this helps  Smiley

1) It is working even at 3000 or 6000 or more...

2) Good, it works if I recalibrate after I loaded the aircraft. But that is frustrating... Why should I recalibrate every time I start fsx?!?!? Is there any way to save settings for good?

3) Awesone, the issue was the SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew!! I replaced the value with 0 and now I hear switches, voices and GPWS. I still can't get Vspeed calls even if I have FMC Vspeeds set and speed bugs set... Any idea?

Thanks a lot,
Daniele

as far as I know, there are no speed callouts in the CS aircraft for FSX.

Is it normal I get a "check landing gear position" if i have gear up and flaps 5 set... I usually put gear down while setting flaps 20 and not before. Any way to move that alarm to 20?!?

@daspin - With the autobrake, what do you set it to. I set it to MAX and it went on then into disarm on touchdown, for a normal landing your meant to set it to 1 or 2.

I find that I only get that warning once the flaps are set at 5 degrees and above AND the throttle levers are at idle.

But. Looking at this part of the aircraft.cfg the throttles need to be 10% or lower:-

[gear_warning_system]
gear_warning_available = 1
pct_throttle_limit =  0.1
flap_limit_idle    =  5.0
flap_limit_power   = 37.5

If you change the flap_limit_idle = 5.0 to flap_limit_idle = 20.0 you would get the warning at flaps 20. Backup your aircraft.cfg before modifying.

Note: in pct_throttle_limit 1.0 = 100% (maximum) and 0.1 = 10%

Hope this helps.

Great, I updated the aircraft.cfg as you suggested and it works just fine! Thanks for the help.

@acezboy561: I usually set autobrakes to 2 (it's enough for most runways). But you're right, if I set it to MAX, as soon as the plane touches down the autobrakes resets to disarm... Try to limit your brake power to 2, better that nothing Smiley
