VOR/OBS needle..CDI doesn't move?
Jan 5th, 2010 at 2:43am
Print Post

I can't dial a course using the OBI. When I tune a VOR in NAV1 and select EFIS to "VOR" mode the EFIS shows appropriate VOR and DME, but if I rotate the OBS the CDI (course deviation indicator) doesn't move at all, rather stays center the whole time. How do I manually fly VOR courses/airways if CDI doesnt move? My conditions are set as follows:

IRUs properly aligned
NAV radio tuned to valid VOR
EFIS says "VOR L" although not sure if this has anything to do with it or how to change that
EFIS selected to "VOR" mode

Any ideas??

Marcelo,

I agree with you. Some of us know how to navigate properly and this greatly diminishes the experience. The response from customer service was that "this question already answered". In fact they HAVE NOT fixed this bug. I must say I'm very dis-pleased as the sim is otherwise good, but not having this feature makes it un-flyable to me personally. Needless to say, I won't be purchasing it for FSX if I ever go that route.

I agree Lateplaner. VOR nevigation should be working. It's annoying not be able to navigate manually

Just installed ver 2.2 yesterday and still no VOR indications. Have been using this add-on since 2008 (v2.1) with the same problems. I even submitted a support request in 2008 when the update came out about the VOR/OBS fix. I asked support what was the actual fix but never got a reply. installed the 757 ver 4.2 in FSX yesterday and I have the same issue. No TO/FROM indications and the CDI remains centered.

I think some clever code is required to model independent VOR & ILS systems, so it appears this is either too complex for captain sim (other developers with rapid turnover and simplified product ranges do the same) or they believe such complexity is not worth the effort, most probably the latter. It's no coincidence both fs9 & fsx products have this serious flaw. so this is not a bug, but a simplification of the architecture. don't be fooled by the list of fixes supposedly fixed.
anyone saying it works on their system are confused and/or have no undertsanding of VOR.

It is a great product guys but, 2 years latter and no solution!. Pretty amazing. Where is the Captain Sim support you are supposed to offer to the FS9 products, we are not asking for an upgrade, just a simple thing. We have a very important, non corrected bug here my friends, We basically can't do VOR approaches, tracking and intercepting radials, holdings based on VOR radials, etc.... Please help us here. I know you must be  busy with other things but this bug it's totally abandoned.

Best.
Juan.
