Version 4.4 released
Dec 1st, 2009 at 9:20pm
Print Post
I just re-downloaded the 757 about 3-4 days ago and my files (-200 and -300) read 4300. I accidentally deleted them doing some HD cleaning so I went back to redownload and now the files are both 4400.

The installer reads as 757 Version 4.4 during install so it looks like it has been released, only it has not been reported yet. Smiley

Somebody please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Shane.

It appears you could be right. When I clicked on "Get links" it points to csp751_4400.exe etc...

I am going to download them now. Thanks for that. I have noticed that I get an email about the updates/releases from Capt Sim a few days after they become available on the website.

NOTE: I have downloaded and installed the v4.4 and it definitely looks like it really IS the 4.4 update. An updated ACE and a few other fixes I have noticed, so far, from my very short test flight. Grin

Can you elaborate on the fixes you found?

I just installed the update, but I haven't had time to check it out.

UPDATE:  Unfortunately there appears to be new issues with this update.  I experienced problems with interior/exterior lighting, TCAS, and external engine noise, and I still had to edit the sound.cfg file.  I may try and submit tickets, but I might just go back to v4.3 as it was stable and the few small issues weren't too bad, but for now this bird is grounded. Sad

Hi,

same with the landing lights here. And i dont hear the cabin messages and other cockpit sounds and announcements without the old workaround (put a Msvcr71.dll in FSX root and SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=0 in sound.ini). But with this workaround its ok.

And the FMS say "insufficient fuel" to me with 50% fuel for a 148nm trip and reseves only at 1.000 lbs. But i will work on this...

But anyway my best plane next to the CS C130! Smiley

I was wrong about the TCAS fail message, it should be present when on the ground, I just don't recall the last version modeling this.

EDIT:  The wing tank issue was an FSX error.

Hi,
i experience the same problems
- no sound on buttons, knobs, callouts etc. (mmh, the second time i loaded the plane the sound was OK - without modifying the sound.ini)
- Engine sound in external view with no eninges running
- still cant set the speedbugs
- the landing light switches go mad, switch the interior lights
- EPR numbers disappear in EICAS with engine off (maybe a feature, not a bug?)
- ailerons still rocking
- no new nightlightning  Cry

but the there are good facts to report too:
+ VOR neddle now functions as it should
+ no problems running the APU or ext. PWR > 20 mins
+ center fuel tank is now drained first
+ plane only lifts of at calculated V2

Anyone got the autobrakes on landing working? Every time the main gear touches the ground the knob flips to "disarm".
RTO works fine.

Greetings

Does anyone else with v4.4 have trouble with the autothrottle speed management when VNAV is engaged?  On my first flight, I had programmed a flight plan in the FMC, I engaged the flight directors, autothrottle, LNAV, VNAV, autopilot CMD, and the autopilot did not take over the speed of the aircraft.  Usually with VNAV engaged, the speed window of the autopilot is blank and speed is managed by the aircraft, but I had to manually enter speed values during this flight.

I submitted a ticket, #4617, regarding this issue.

What operating system and FSX version are you using?  I am on Vista 32-bit with FSX Acceleration SP2.  I have duplicated this issue two times in a row, and I didn't have this problem with v4.3, so I don't think it is user error.

Anyone know how to enable the winglets on the model?  For some reason, when 4.4 installed it did not install the usual folder that contained the model with winglets.

Thanks,

Check the 757 ACE, amend your aircraft version there (tick off for winglets).

Whats the procedure for installing 4.4?Should the existing 757 be uninstalled, and how does this affect the freight version.I seem to have problems with the IRS 's now i.e., there is no action when I try to set the switches?  Undecided

You need to delete all previously installed versions of the Captain Sim 757 before installing this update.  Install the base pack first, than move on to the expansion packs.

In my brief test so far, I got the one thing I was asking for, a way to save a flight in progress and start it back up, without having to land someplace and reprogram everything.  There may be something else I am frustrated with, but so far so good.

Just finished a test flight with auto takeoff, complete flightplan with SID STAR and ILS autoland. All ok for me.

The new landig light logic is ok for me too, but i understand other minds there. There are so many functions without FS-keys, so this one ...?

The only topic claimed in the post here that is relevant to me, is the dark light in the overhead panel in the VC view. But i have this panel on a separate window/monitor, so that ist not a problem (for me).

No problems at all for me on the 757 4.4 update. The landing lights behavior is weird but workable.

For me this is been the best update for the 757 by far.

So have you been able to get the autopilot to take over speed management when VNAV is engaged?  Usually, when VNAV is engaged and in control of the aircraft speed, the speed window on the MCP goes blank and the autopilot adjusts the aircraft speed according to the VNAV profile in the FMC.  I have been unable to get this to happen with this version.

They did get the cargo loader working properly.  I can now load the lower cargo bay and save without the lower bay emptying.

I also cannot confirm this.  My speed is working perfectly on Windows 7x64.
I did loose some of my cockpit sounds like the seatbelt chime.  I will get those fixed.
Everything else is working perfectly so far.  FPS is fine too.

I fixed the sounds issue in the usual way: I went to Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Captain_Sim\757\sound.ini
and changed SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=1 to SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=0

I also renamed the following files so the plane is quiet when engines aren't started (757-200\sound.PW & 757-200\sound.RR):

757idle.wav      to  757idle.BAK.wav
x757cfm.wav    to  x757cfm.BAK.wav
x757idle.wav    to  x757idle.BAK.wav
x757idle2.wav  to  x757idle2.BAK.wav

And that is all I needed to do with my 757s. Everything else is working as it should on mine.

I have made a few other minor changes in aircraft.cfg's and panel.cfg's but they are personal preferences only and have nothing at all to do with problems with the 757.
