USCG 1705 Mid-air collision

It didn't really make front page news, even here in the states, but it is hugely important to me as my friends were on that plane and that is exactly the job I do. I think many of us here have aircrewed on C130's and the news may  merrit your knowing.

Just about 3000 hours flying on the C130 and I always looked at it as ironclad, failsafe as it gets and no other plane I'd rather travel in.....and it still is, but some things are just too much. I mean, I go out and do the same missions that all the good people on both these airframes were doing here and I always expect to come home, but I guess life is unpredicatable Sad

We lost some really good people.

You have my simpathy.

my friend died in a Herc mid air collision on march 29 1985. It was a flyby and two of them collided over tha base (CFB Edmonton/Namao).
I do beleive it's the only mid air ever involving two Hercs.
I still remember all the bits and pieces of planes everywhere.
there were no survivors (10 dead).
again, you have my simpathy.
