Newbie needing a couple of pointers

Hi all,

Firstly I apologise if this has been asked before and chances are it probably has but I need a little bit of assistance with my brand new CS 757 purchase.

It relates to cold & dark start up advice and although I can start the aircraft normally using CTRL + E, I decided to watch the Bob Markey tutorial on You Tube and followed the start up sequence to the letter.

My problems come early on in the start up.

Firstly I noticed that Bob's video has a complete cold & dark cockpit which I am able to reconstruct apart from the green screen flight computer (ODU).

So how do I turn this green screen computer off?

Secondly after following Bob's instructions precisely as described and get to the APU start up - the problem occurs.

I notice in Bob's video you can hear the APU firing up and coming to life. My APU does'nt make a sound and the run light just flashes on and off. So I guess its not working.

I have watched the video and paused it during every step so I can follow the instructions along the way. However I guess I have done something or missed something somewhere.

Can anyone assist please. I would very much like to authenticate the start up sequence rather than rely on the CTRL+E method and this seems to have me beaten and would like to know what it is I have missed or am doing wrong.

Many thanks

To get to a cold & dark start, I have changed the default flight to the default Cessna, turned everything off (including the key) except for the avionics switch.

If there is anything on when you start up the 757 after that, just hit shift+M to make sure power is totally off.

Turn your battery on, and the APU to start.  It should flash a bit and the run light should burn steady.  If this is not happening, I would make sure I had a good, clean default flight to start with so nothing weird is being saved to mess complex add-ons up.

Just try a few simple things first, like the volume being turned up on your speakers and "sounds" selected from the drop down Options menu.
You may also need to wait for the APU to stabilise before attempting anything else, the Run light should remain alight when that happens .... oh and have you got the fuel pump turned on to enable the APU to start..
