Has this happend to anyone?

Hi,
I was wondering if the following has ever happened to anyone else, and if so, how did you fix it?
The Problem
Using the C130 (all models tried) in multi-player (read Vatsim) mode, I cannot connect to the voice servers using SB4 (Squwak Box is the only approved FSX Vatsim client) .
The issue
I do the before start procedures, bringing up to the radios.  At this point I innitiate SB4.  I connect (or at least try to) to the vatsim network, however, I get a general error window (11) stating that the program has to shut down.  Note here, that the SB program does not see the CS radios.  I cannot even text on frequencey.  The best I can do is PM, and that doesn't wash with ATC...I know, I am one.  The connection is active, as I show up on the online utilities such as Vatspy and vroute.  I just can't talk to anyone.
Validation
I have tried to solve this out on my own, however, I'm stuck for an answer.  I figure it is a conflict with something in the CS program, as this doesn't happen in any other aircraft I have.  When this first happened, I tried to isolate the issue by un-installing one program at a time, but have come to the conclusion that it is a CS issue.
The System
Gateway DX4200-UB001A
AMD Phenom 9550 Quad
ATI HD 3450
6 Gb RAM DDR2
Vista 64bit
3rd Party programs
Active Sky X
Flight Sim Commander 8.4
SB4

Any ideas and or help would be greatly appreciated,

Regards,
Jim Allan

Hi Jim,

1st problem - don't know where you get the notion that SB4 is the only approved client for FSX! Try FSInn and FSCopilot, but, make sure you have the correct versions for FSX. I use it and have never had a problem.

As I don't use SB4 then I can't comment further in that I personally would uninstall SB4. Find the link to FSInn from VATSIM's web site and install that.

Also, when you use either SB4 or FSInn ensure that the sound card/device you use do not mismatch! i.e. The aircraft sounds and SB$ or FSInn CANNOT use Wave or Direct sound together! Set it up that the sim uses Wave Sound and SB4 or FSInn uses Direct Sound.

Check before uninstalling SB4 that the above is not the case, change one and then try. If you still have the issues then uninstall SB4 and try FSInn.

Hope this helps you.

Regards,

James.

I have to agree with James. I use FsInn for vatsim and have no problems with voice. Check you sound settings as James suggested and if that doesnt work then i would give FsInn and FsCopilot a try. There is a little learning curve to it but has a lot of features the SB doesnt. I have never used SB4 since it wasnt even out when I started fly fsx on vatsim.
