Demo - Not Able to Take Off?

Hi,

I'm really interested in getting the C130, but when I tried the demo I was unable to take-off. The rudder and throttle inputs work (joystick) but when pulling back to actually take off nothing happens and I just end up ploughing fields.
Is this because I'm trying the demo - can it not be flown (surely not?). I can load up any other aircraft and it works just fine.

I'm running Vista 64bit SP2 and FSX with Acceleration. Any pointers would be helpful - I want to try this plane.  Sad

That's indeed the demo limitations. everything works, except elevator functions (don't know anymore if aileron works...).
this way, captain sim gives you a plane you can test, but not use.
all other stuff should work, so you know how the frame rates are, if you like the VC, the exterior etc...
only the flight dynamics are a leap of faith  Tongue

Hi Tyrion,

Thanks for your reply, at least it's not a problem with the add-on and my PC. A shame you can't try the plane in flight as it were, but it does seem to be a add-on with a good reputation.

I assume you have the aircraft yourself? If so what are your personal opnions of it and if good are there other CaptainSim add-ons that you would recommend?

Thanks again.  Cool

This may work or may not, but, try slewing upto a descent altitude then when you come out of slew operate the auto pilot. I think you can then get a feel of it while in the air but only through the AP.

Hey,

I tried using slew when I tried out the demo, it always ended with the nose in the ground lol.

I do have the C130 X-perience Pro Pack, and I love it!
I have some problems with the C-130H model, but everything else works perfect!!
Lovely aircraft to take up for a VOR-DME flight, or just flying VFR at low altitude...
I haven't regretted buying it for a second!
Another CS addon I really like is the F/A-18D from the X-load package. I use that when I just want to have some fun in FSX, or want to fly fast/high/low/extreme/crazy...
I also recently got the 727 captain, and although I have some sound issues with that one, that's another very beautiful CS aircraft...
But again about the Herc, if you like old fashioned navigation like I do, and don't expect FMS and that other modern computer stuff, this bird won't let you down.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback about the C130. I have since bought the pro package, but as yet have not spent a great deal of time flying. First impressions are very good though and I can see me using this aircraft quite a lot.  Smiley

Just to go off on a slight tangent- and I don't want to turn this into a major topic, but do you use any add-ons for improved scenery or textures etc. and if so are there any you recommend or suggest avoiding.

Thanks again.  Wink

No, I don't.
I'm not very interested in scenery, I keep the settings for that quite low.
I'm all into aircraft, so I keep those settings at very high always...

keep 'm flying
