panel light at night

Hi guys!

i love to make night flights with bad weather, so here is my question: Is this the only night light included with this aircraft?

http://captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview.pl?i=/products/b757/img/screenshots/virtua...

That kind of light is very good during the preflight and postflight (Or, if you have a problem during the flight), but not during the flight.

You don't drive your car at night with the cabin light on. Do you?  Tongue

Normaly, you use this kind of light during the flight:

http://www.airliners.net/photo/Air-China/Boeing-757-2Z0/1006337/L/

You get my point, right?

Yes the night lighting in the VC is much too bright, no option for instrument backlights ect. its all or nothing.

If you read the support page on the website, you'll see that it's a FS limitation probleme but if you want a darker cockpit, you can edit the aircraft.cfg and remove the "dome" light effect.

and the aircraft will be more dark ! Smiley Captain Sim work on a new system for the night.

Please read some time the support part on the registered part of the site ! Many interesting informations :

Example :

Q: I can't adjust the the panel lights, they are either on or off or full bright.

A: Three VC lightning options available:
- Lightmaps Off
- Lightmaps On
- Instruments Backlight On with Lightmaps On

As for the lightmaps, some people like dark cockpit, other like bright one. But MSFS works with just one set of lightmaps.

If you want your cockpit to be darker, you can turn off (comment) the VC light effect (#8)

Aircraft.cfg

[LIGHTS]
...
//light.8 =4, 68.48, 0.00, 5.19, fx_vclightwhi
...

We'll consider the possibility of another 'darker cockpit' set of lightmaps.

From: 757 Captain (FS9) / Virtual Cockpit (graphics) (QID 487)

-----------------------------------

ps : On FSX, the lines are not the 8 but the two lines :

light.2 = 4,  67.00,   2.00,  5.19, fx_vclightwhi
light.3 = 4,  67.00,   -2.00,  5.19, fx_vclightwhi

if CS finds no other way to fix the lighting issue then perhaps they can create 3 different textures that clicking the panel light can load up? one for each scenario ie no flood, no instrument but flood and then both flood and instrument lighting.

I hope you do address this, as it pretty much ruins night flying, and thats my favorite time to fly.

Is there anyway to just have the instrument backlights on? Flying around with the floods at night aint too realistic! I dont remember this problem prior to 4.3, but the old memory aint what it used to be.

Currently there is no way to have backlighting in VC. Thank you for your suggestion. The feature is one the list and is forwarded to our development team. We will do our best to add the feature in the next upgrades.
