Reducing Texture Sizes?

Print Post
Hello,

I recently purchased the Captain Sim 757 for FS9 and I am trying to increase my FPS by lowering the VC texture sizes in half.

Is this the best way to do this and if so, can I use DTXBMP to cut the textures in half and save them in their original format?

Thanks in advance!

Another thing you can do is to make all the VC and cockpit textures in to DXT3.

So just by opening them and saving to DXT3, it would have the same effect?  Thanks for the response by the way.

EDIT: All the cockpit and VC files I'm opening are already in the DXT3 format.

The only way then really is to decrease the size of the actual textures.  This will unfortunately reduce the quality of the wording etc on the panels too.

You'll need an art program to open the files then reduce the size of the tile then save again.

I'm not sure there is for DXT3.  I still use Imagetool which only does single files.
