IRS not aligning?

Hello everyone.  I am trying to align the IRS panels.  I have read the official, and forum manuals, but I don't think they are working properly, or i am doing it wrong.  When I move switches to align, should the indicators above them light up?  I know there is an align time of around 10 minutes, but even after 15 minutes of not moving nothing happens.  The LCD indicator on the IRS panel reads "0000".

Thanks

Assuming the electrical power is on, when you move the IRS switches to "Align" the indicators show illuminate "ALIGN" (Or something like that) After a certain amount of time, for me it's ~10 sec., the lights will go out. It is then aligned.

I believe there is already a thread about this, if so, CS staff will merge this post into it.

Watch my preflight sequence video, it covers the proper initial preflight settings for the 757.

This also includes alignment of the IRS.

When you first turn it to Align or NAV, the ALIGN indicators should light up.  If you're on DC power and draining the battery, the ON DC indicators will also light up.

Either way, you must be stopped, parked, on the ground, for alignment to occur.

Dave and Bob,

Thanks for the prompt reply.  Unfortunately, power is on, I am parked and engines are off but no indicators illuminate and nothing happens when I swtich to align.  Should "0000" appear on the IRS before the switches are moved?  It seems something may be wrong with my installation because I noticed the VOR/DME switch is not working and the numeral indicators aren't on.  I'll contact CS support for this, but has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks

That does sound like a problem.

Check your saved flights, and delete any that have the 757 saved with them, and also delete the one that's checked to be your default.  Some weird issues get saved with your saved flights, even in the default and even if the default doesn't have the 757 selected.

Restart the sim and reload the plane and see if the issue still exists.

If it does, it's probably a botched install.  There's a KB about how to do a proper uninstall procedure.  Search for it and shut down the sim and then follow that.  Then make sure when you re-install the plane that your firewalls and antivirus softwares are disabled, and then do the re-install with the sim shut down.  With your firewalls and antivirus stuff still disabled, boot the sim, and it may immediately ask you to begin approving the trust relationships for various gauges and systems items, and it certainly should when you load the plane the first time.

A lot of times (especially on vista) these trust relationships and/or critical parts of the install process never complete due to vista's UAC and/or firewall/antivirus trying to think for you.

If those processes don't fix the issues, then I'd say certainly go to CS for a ticket.  They'll want you to go through all this before looking into it further, so make sure to do your due diligence on these items first.
