No manual control when AP is disconnected-FIX
Dec 16th, 2008 at 5:30pm
Print Post
Any info on this? I have checked all the other threads and so far I dont see anything for a solution.

I am referring to the problem of no manual control of the aircraft when the AP is disconnected. This is a great plane and one of my favorites but unless this is addressed and fixed soon, it's off my list.

There are no solutions yet for AP disconnect and other issues neither from CS nor from users.
More then that as it was assumed by Captain Sim, we shouldn't expect for the next SP "any sooner than Spring '09.":
http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1227900846/30#30
The only thing you can do is to open and send Ticket in CS Support section.
I feel really sad about this "timetable". CS B757 has VERY limited flyability for me until AP issue will be fixed.

I have this same issue as well, no control of aircraft or throttles after de-activation(unless you pause sim and let it sit a few seconds). I guess I will also go back the the previous version. hopefully it's a simple fix.

Hello,

I have buy today at Simmarket the 757 and I make a first fly before to read this forum. I discovered the 4.2 version, so , I get it and install it... I also have had the problem with the autopilot, and couldn't take back manual control during approach.

Reading this topic : http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1227900846/15#15   I have make much more simple : I had saved old versions of FSUIPC.dll ... I simply have replace FSUIPC 4.4 with the 4.3 and the first tests seems to show that the problem is solved. I will make some other flights tomorrow and tell you if the problem have not be back.

It is very easy to change FSUIPC without desinstalling and reinstalling the 757... But it mean that you have saved old FSUIPC versions...

I agree with Jean-Luis.

All of you having this problem, try to replace the fsuipc.dll in Microsoft Flight Simulator/Modules folder with an older version (the one that comes with 4.1 is fine) and the AP issue is gone.

Fix for no disconnect of A/P
Print Post
Hey folks! I've got a fix for the A/P disconnect problem. I have 4.2 and therefore FSUIPC 4.40. Well, I found a version 4.30 of FSUIPC and replaced the dll file and the A/P disconnects now as it should. All you do is replace the 4.40 dll found in your modules folder inside FSX with the 4.30 dll, and you're done. If you want, email me (and I hope this is ok to do) at p1muserfan@yahoo.com and I will send it to you as an attachment. I already have the another company 767 and Flight 1 S80 pro and love them both. I think this plane ranks right up there if it does what it's suppose to do.

Hello,

Yes, the AP disconnect problem has gone for me too by using the FSUIPC version 4.30.

Thanks for the hint.

dbulldog,

I also noted Pete's response on the FSUIPC forum, and just checked System Requirements for the CS757 (http://www.captainsim.com/products/x757/sysreq.html).
FSUIPC is not mentioned at all  Huh

FSUIPC is required and it's included in the pack.

As for the FSUIPC versions conflict issue, we are in thouch with Peter Dowson to address the issue asap.

I've arranged for at least 12 users to get a copy of FSUIPC 4.3 and most have replied that this solved the problem.

Why can't the developer or CS arrange for this to be downloadable?  Peter is clearly has an attitude.

FSUIPC 4.3 has NOT worked for me yet.  I haven't been able to get past the CTD after using the CDU problem yet to thoroughly test it out though.  The one flight I actually managed to make to the point of landing still exhibited the AP disconnect problem.

after my first install i took this bird for a few touch and gos and then i took it on a long flight without the fms but with auto pilot on vnav and speed, when i disconnected i had no control but then thru rudder input it came alive, after that i haven't had that problem except once when it took about 2 seconds to get the control back, i have 4.2 with FSUIPC 4.4, i still need to take it on a longer flight with CDU and then post again but on short hops i haven't had any other problems except the auto brakes which i can release on 2d and then have it work in vc.

Hi to all, I have the same problems with the A/P.
With FSUIPC 4.4 I have the problems when disconnecting the A/P, if I delete FSUIPC4.DLL I have the same problem, with the rocking problem.
Unfortunately I have only the FSUIPC 4.4 version, and 4.2 release of 757 since I've just bought it.
Can somebody kindly send me a 4.3 version of the FSUIPC in order to try to fix this problem temporarily?
Thanks a lot in advance for the support.

Found 4.3 at Flightsim.com in the hot files section today it was #61 on the list. Just do a search on the page for fsuipc.

You have to be registered to download but its free to register

I installed FSUIPC version 4.40.  The uncontrollable oscillations in autopilot mode stopped, and I can disconnect the autopilot, but during autopilot flight the airplane still climbs and descends and yaws left and right more than any other generic or add-on airplane.  Also, if I increase the program speed above 4X the plane starts ocillating and finally goes out of control.

Did those of you who installed 4.3 have this problem?

Yes, I installed the 4.3 version and have the same problem when I increase the simulation speed to 4X (and above...)
It seems to be a stability control issue, when increasing the simulating speed over a certain value, the AP seems not able to keep the altitude, and the amplitude of the osillations increase gradually up to the stability loss...

You can download 4.3 from here: http://www.flightsim.com/file.php?cm=SEARCH1&fsec=98&fname=fsuipc4.zip

This fixed the problem for me.

Does this mess up anything else? I use FSUIPC to control my Ellie avionics on a networked computer as well as other mapped functions.

Will I have to re-do anything else by replacing the file?

Nothing at all except overwriting existing FSUIPC.DLL by one you will download from the page linked above. Just copy and paste (don't use installator) - you will stay registered.
4.3 works fine for me. AP disconnects and all controls are OK.

What I find is this:  Pressing "Z" or your assigned AP Disengage button only disengages the L/C/R command switch.  Actually pressing the AP Disengage bar on the MCP will never cause the problem, but simply pressing the FS AP Disengage soft key/button always will cause the problem.

I had the problem with pressing Z or manually clicking the bar while using FSUIPIC 4.4.  The only work around is to pause the sim for about 5 seconds, or revert to FSUIPC 4.3

CS has confirmed to me in a ticket that another SP for 4.X 757 is "due soon".

Since I don't experience the AP bug when using ONLY the AP Disengage bar (rather than Z or a mapped AP Disconnect soft button), I have to wonder what differs in our systems.

I do get the issue if I *ever* use that button, but if I use the panel for engage and disengage, never have the problem.

Vista 32 - no problem, but after moving to 64 system I have no manual control for 10-15 seconds. After installing 4.3 version the A/P disconnecting issue is fixed.

Well, I made a liar out of myself just last night.

I had an instance where I was forced to disengage my AP on final approach, and used the AP Disengage bar from the panel.  Then the plane banked left and nosedived to the ground.  Shocked

If it happens again, I will try the older FSUIPC and hopefully that corrects the issue.

you have just to replace dll instead of reinstalling the FSUIPC. I just got the file from the mentioned link and replaced dll by 4.3 version. Yesterday I checked few times AP within different flights. And it is OK so far. Do you know that the Flight Simulator is the dancing around it instead of using this. Grin

Bugs or Lack of Knowledge

Hello!

Just bought this new plane, think it's great an all, myriad of buttons, myriad of ways to mess up and crash into a large mountain! So good fun all round.

Having figured out, almost, the complexities of the autopilot (why does it have three?) I can get the plane to hold altitude, headings, and turn on command, etc. The only issue is releasing the autopilot.

It takes about 10-15 seconds to give me back control of the plane which, if that's realistic, seems to be really rather dangerous!

I've uninstalled and re-installed, same issue. I have all the variants of the plane (cargo, 300) and they all behave the same.

Another issue is the right yaw damper "inop" light always stays on but the lane flies as normal.

thanks for any help, info!

Hi,

That seems to be an issue with fsuipc.dll that comes with 4.2, see the thread "No manual control when AP is disconnected-FIX" down below.

There's a link in the referenced article on downloading 4.3 version of FSUIPC from a website - you have to read the entire post.  I think it's in the middle of page 2 or 3.

First of all I fixed the AP problem by changing .dll but in a few days it appears again. I did the same changing with the positive result. And what I found that the size of the new .dll file was 209 kb. And old .dll file (not working file) was around 259 kb. Probably it's happened because of some additional programs or online flight connections involved. Who is flying online? Can you check this?

I fly online, but only on FSHost servers, not GameSpy.

No problems related to FSHost.

TiggerToo, on your Yaw Damper question - make sure you have your IRS systems initialized, make sure also that all your hydraulic pumps are commanded on and all pressure warnings are extinguished.

As for "why 3", well, why not?  Two are better than 1, and 3 are better than two.  The real reason?  Autoland.  You need to have at least 2 AP's online to have Autoland functional- so the third redundant system allows you to still get autoland if you have an AP system fail.

At least that's how I understand it.  Wink

Another thing that works is just to pause the sim, then unpause it.  I did that and all the controls work.
Of course getting the 4.3 dll would probably be more realistic Wink

Can someone message me with how to get the DLL please? It might also help me with the crash to desktops when cycling views. I did get the AP problem, but I've only made one flight in this, the CDTs stop me from doing more.

Please replace the current version of FSUIPC4.dll you are using in [FSX Root Folder]\Modules folder with FSUIPC 4.50 from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html and let us know the result.

I have been using 4.30 which works, and I just tried 4.50 and it freezes the controls after disengaging the AP. As mention above, pausing and unpausing brings control back.

Turns until overbanked on autopilot

Maybe someone can help me . I have not been able to fly this plane since the first time I purchased it correctly because of a problem with the autopilot. Sometimes (it does not follow a pattern) the airplane starts banking  until it crashes in the ground. I does not matter what I do I can select HDG SEL, LNAV, LOC it will continue to bank. The only way I can make the bank stop is to disconnect the autopilot and restart Flight Simulator. There are many other things like sometimes the FMC crashes because of the Navigation Data. But those things you can work around but this messes up your whole flight and you never know when it is going to happen. If anybody can help please do. Thank You

I'm sure you do but I'm still going to ask, Do you have fsuipc installed?
One day I was doing something tweaking maybe fsx Which I'm always doing can't remember exactly what and took fsuipc out of fsx and forgot about it. Then one day I fired up CS 757 taxied to the active took off climbed to 2000ft agl engaged the auto pilot and that thing started going wild like it had a mind of it's own. I was lost at what the problem could be and then I remembered fsuipc. Once I reinstalled Fsuipc all was normal again. I hope this helps and is the solution to your problem, If not I'm sure someone will come up with something. After all this is why we come here to share experiences and to help each other out.

Autopilot Problem

Whenever I disconnect the autopilot to fly the approach, the aircraft does not respond to control inputs and often times just drifts into a descent and crashes. I do this because the aircraft's autopilot has a difficult time following the correct glideslope on autoland. Does anyone have a quick fix for this? This is for FSX.

I read the recommendations for a FSUIPC downgrade to 4.3, I disconnected the autopilot and had immediate positve control of the aircraft. This is a comprehensive aircraft with lots of code so it will probably take CS some time to release a comprehensive patch to the many issues.

I had saved all FSUIPC 4 versions since 4.3 up to 4.507.- I tried them and noticed that the most recent version free of the AP disconnect issue is the 4.323, from the 4.325 up, all have that problem.-

I have the same problem. I do the the same as you, I use the old FSUIPC to replace the 4.4 ver which installed by CS757. And the sometimes the same problem will happened. I am very sad.

This was the reply I got from Pete Dowson (FSUIPC), it should be very useful if Support reads it:

Known? strange, then, that no one has written to me about it. If this aircraft uses FSUIPC and has run into a problem with later versions, someone should talk to me about it. There is no way I'm ever going to be able to buy and test all add-ons for FS for every new release of FSUIPC!

Did the person who determined this ever state why?

""... and in the forums, the recomandation is to go back to version 4.3.- I made some trials, and noticed that the most recent version free of the problem is 4.323, in newer versions I found the problem. Is there a workaround ?"

It sounds like a possible bug in the Captain Sim add-on: maybe they are not clearing the flag they must be setting in FSUIPC which tells it to disconnect controls. FSUIPC has a 10-12 second timeout on updates to that flag in case of bad or hung apps. If this is all it is I'm sure it is something they can fix quickly enough.
I'm not aware of any difference between version 4.323 and later versions which would change these things, though, unless it worked by fluke before because of some older FSUIPC bug now fixed. I really would need more information to help. Why has no one who knows what they are talking about contacted me?

Regards

Pete

The issue has been addressed in SP 4.3.
