Is there anyway to chnage the cockpit textures. They take quite a while to load.  Sad

resize pit textures in photoshop (batch processing) from 1024x1024 to 512x512. makes 3d cockpit view super fast after that

Note you need nvidia dds plugin to successfully do the following in photoshop. Download it free at : http://www.nvidia.com/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html

Before you start backup textures. I would not be responsible if something nasty happens to your computer hardware or software. You've been warned.  The process in general is safe imho

well I would advise you guys to learn automation tutorial elsewhere on the web there are plenty just search. What it does is helps you to do repitition of tasks easier with one click. Anyhow what you guys need to do is goto textures folder of captain sim plane folder and search for all the textures of size 1024x1024 pixels and separate them from the rest say in a new temp folder. All files with dimension 512x512 and below should be left alone as they donot suck that much video memory. Now one by one open the files and follow the following procedure.

resize, make sure restrain constraints is selected just like other options

Hit, File > save.

make sure all options are selected excatly as below.

hit save and close file. Do with rest of the large files in that folder. Now if you followed instructions carefully and had backup texture folder, you can overwrite all new smaller textures into textures folder in captain sim folder C:/program files/Microsoft games/microsoft flight simulator x/simobjects/airplanes/CS_B757-200/texture. Now go fly and see the difference Cool

Hey Aussie - thanks for brilliant & clear instructions..   I do have one question tho' - regarding the nVidia plug-in - does it pop up automatically after you've finished resizing & are closing the textures?

Also does that mean it will pop-up when resizing anything else? - as I use this Photoshop for other resizing (jpegs & stuff) - & wouldn't want it to... if you get my meaning!

Cheers, Tony

nb. I would load up this aircraft again if the cokpit loading time was fixed - & it's not my machine that's crap (Intel Dual-Core 2.8ghz psu, 2gb Corsair ram, Geforce 8800GTS with 605mb memory..)
