Mark,

Thanks, I tried rfinder for say KJFK to EGLL.  It created a good enough FP and I  modified it in notepad to FSX format (comparing to an existing FP that FSX generated JFK to EGLL via Alasak!).  Then in CDU I tried to load it, but it doesn't do anything.  I have another FP that loads ok in CDU.

So, I started deleting waypoints, like the oceanic ones:

[flightplan]
title=KJFK to EGLL
description=KJFK, EGLL
type = IFR
routetype = 3
cruising_altitude=0
departure_id=KJFK, N40*  38.39 , W73*  46.74 , +000013.00
destination_id=EGLL, N51*  28.65 , W0*  27.68 , +000080.00
departure_name=New_York_John_F_Kennedy_Intl
destination_name=Heathrow
waypoint.0=KJFK,A, N40* 38.39,  W73*  46.74, +000000.00,
waypoint.1=PUT, I, N41* 57.19,  W071* 50.38, +000000.00,
waypoint.2=BOS,A,N42* 21.26,  W070* 59.22, +000000.00,
waypoint.3=SCUPP, I, N42* 36.11,  W070* 13.49, +000000.00,
waypoint.4=CANAL, I, N42* 40.08,  W070* 01.21, +000000.00,
waypoint.5=TUSKY, I, N43* 33.54,  W067* 00.00, +000000.00,
waypoint.6=COLOR, I, N46* 40.24,  W052* 30.50, +000000.00,
waypoint.7=RONPO, I, N46* 52.38,  W051* 00.00, +000000.00,
waypoint.12=MALOT, I, N53* 00.00,  W015* 00.00, +000000.00,
waypoint.13=GISTI, I, N53* 00.00,  W014* 00.00, +000000.00,
waypoint.14=SLANY, I, N52* 09.31,  W005* 50.32, +000000.00,
waypoint.15=STU, I, N51* 59.40,  W005* 02.24, +000000.00,
waypoint.16=DIKAS, I, N51* 46.37,  W003* 15.33, +000000.00,
waypoint.17=GAVGO, I, N51* 33.50,  W001* 42.36, +000000.00,
waypoint.18=KENET, I, N51* 31.14,  W001* 27.18, +000000.00,
waypoint.19=EGLL,A,N51* 28.39,  W000* 27.41, +000000.00,

Still no luck with that.

I also tried a simroutes.com FP in FSX format, but CDU won't load that either.

I lastly tried entering FP manually, it seems my nav files might be nonexistent as I tried JFK, MERIT, HFD, PUT, BOS-all which should exist.

I broke down and bought the latest navigraph...works now.

The format you used above, is the FS9 .PLN format, not the FSX .PLN format. This is the FSX format:

As you can see, it is very different, and whereas FSX can read/load/use te FS9 PLN format, the CS 757 v4.x FMC/CDU only loads the FSX PLN format. That's why it didn't work. If you had loaded the plan/route manually, it will work (unless a waypoint is not listed in the FMC/CDU database). Wink

ok thanks for the information.

The other day I loaded a FSX Flight plan  fine and modified it and clicked save in CDU, then today I went to load it and FSX proceeded to crash.  I also tried it in 767 CDU and it did same thing.  I think FSX crashed six times before I finally got one to load ok.

It seemed like the only thing that worked 100% of the time was to start from square 1 every time. Kind of frustrating to have to do that, but I know it works.

simroutes.com is somehow generating a FS9 plan even though FSX is selected when you click on Route Generation (copy route from flightaware and paste into simroutes flight generation).

To FSX, it doesn't matter because it's backwards compatible. The 757 FMC is not. My advice is to open the route with the default FSX Flight Planner, then re-save it. When it is re-saved, it will be saved in the FSX PLN format, and THEN you will be able to load into the 757 FMC. Wink

Hi:

My problem is that when approaching destination and go to the arrivals menu in the fmc, wether I choose star first and then ILS app, or the other way round, and validate with the exec button, nothing happens. No route is drawn in the MFD, nor any new waypoints appear on the leg page of the FMC. Same for 767

I don't know if this was already answered here, but I havent found it.

Regards.

I don't know if this was already answered here, but I havent found it.

I wrote these two fixes for the Captain Sim 767, but they work for the 757 as well.

Fix for missing T/D in CDU/FMS

Fix for missing end of route.

In my personal experience, the fix for the missing T/D usually takes a few more attempts to get it to work, but it still works. And sometimes, doing the fix for the missing end of the route, will then create the missing T/D problem, so I end up doing both fixes for the one flight.

Hope this helps.

Hi, Apologies if this is a silly question, but I've been having a little trouble with setting up an approach for landing.

I've been flying from Edinburgh EGPH to Nice LFMN with a flight plan created using onlineflightplanner.org

Programming the FMC, takeoff, climbing and cruising went well but I can't work out how to set up the approach properly.  My last waypoint is VEVAR so I've set up the FMC as follows: ILS Runway 4L, VEVA6R STAR, MUS Trans

imageshack.com/a/img908/5007/IDDG6C.jpg

This gives a very strange route:

imageshack.com/a/img673/7953/f7G4g0.jpg

I've tried deleting some of the waypoints to give a smoother route into the runway, but the plane doesn't follow the updated route and goes off in the wrong direction.

Selecting a different Transition gives me an even crazier route:

imageshack.com/a/img673/7953/f7G4g0.jpg

I'm probably doing something wrong or missing a step, but does anyone have any idea where I'm going wrong?

When I do the same process in my 757-200 in FSX i have a problema.

I decide use the same process that you show.

but when i click on DET/ARR, select the ARR in destination,  select the runway, trans, .... its didn´t appear in the route or in the legs pages.

When I do the same process in my 757-200 in FSX i have a problema.

I decide use the same process that you show.

but when i click on DET/ARR, select the ARR in destination,  select the runway, trans, .... its didn´t appear in the route or in the legs pages.

I explain how you can fix this problem here: Fix for missing end of route.. You can also view this one if the T/D is missing: Fix for missing T/D in CDU/FMS

I know that I wrote these "fixes" for the CS 767, but they also apply to the CS 757. Wink

Was the arrival runway a default FSX airport, or a 3rd Party Addon airport? I only ask because the landing gear for the 757 never sinks into the pavement for me, yet a 3rd Party Addon airport might explain why it happened. Undecided
