Hi CS,

I would like to now if the loedout panel also is active with the F/A-18A.
So if you can arm the acceleration F-18?.

Thanks Bullseye

The load control panel is a tool to control the F/A-18D model. The panel will not work with F/A-18A model because there's nothing to control in the F/A-18A model (no external stores).

This would be a great update for X-Load IMO.

I'm not very knowledgeable of the nuts and bolts of FSX SDK but it seem like it would be relatively easy to implement this on the default F/A-18...

I'll make it an official wish of mine. Smiley

I think it is harder than you think. The F/A-18 is a default Acceleration aircraft. I know that Captain Sim created it, but we need to understand that the licensing for the F/A-18 maybe along similar lines to what MS are using in Flight. If that is true, all Captain Sim can do is create a way to add extra models to fit on the main model, like the one that some dev did that adds STOL Kit to any aircraft you want.

Thanks Mark,

didn't think of it like that, makes perfect sense, I'll retract that wish of mine Smiley

I was just thinking of a long flight with the A model, I just want the fuel tanks.

I've seen a F/A-18A mod somewhere, maybe it's been done.

and that link is a nice one, didn't know that was out there. Do you have this on the CS C-130?

I found that STOL Kit by accident, while searching for something else.
I might buy it because it is cheap and I would like to see how it works. AND if I can figure it out, it is worth looking into doing it for adding GPU's to aircraft that don't provide a visual model for their aircraft.

Yes I do have the CS C-130. In fact I have all the Captain Sim products for FSX. Shocked

I assumed you already tried it...

After I read the STOL product page my first thought was of the CS Blue Angels C-130 and that it has the RATO modeled visually only and what a cool addition it would be for that aircraft.

I hate to say it but I have the C-130 and have never tried the rockets.

I too have them all for FSX, except for CS weather radar...my first CS product was the MiG-21 back in 02 I believe but I'v lost the records(changed my email and couldn't retrieve them all) Sad but yeah, I can't get enough CS!

Not too long ago I got another license for the F-104, I had lost the product key...anyway it's one of my all time favorites and had to have it back even if I only rarely fly in FS9. It sure would be nice to have it in FSX.

Thanks again for sharing that link, looks like a nice find.

I have not tried it because I don't know how to do it.
If I did know how to do it, I would create a Ground Power Cart and some Air Stairs that could be placed beside all the other CS aircraft! I want to do it, but I need to learn how first. Sad

that would be awesome...what can I do to help?

I would LOVE to have the air stairs...etc. that is a great idea Smiley

I just went back and had another look at that website...

I was wondering what it is you were going to learn to add something like the air stairs?

Just the FSX SDK...gmax etc.? Is there a specific tool you were looking at?

I can use either gmax or FSDS v3.5.1 to create the 3D objects (Ground Power Cart or Air Stairs), but my big problem would be with creating a DLL file to enable them to bee seen along side of the aircraft.

C++ or XML programming (or for that matter ANY programming language) are not my strong points. Sad

But seriously. IF I can figure out what to do, I'll definitely try doing it. Sadly, MS are not all that clear in their SDK, so I will need to either ask the people I know over at the Free Flight Design Forum or the Sim-Outhouse Forum for help on what I will need to do.

maybe you, or I could start an Air Stairs & GPU thread in general discussion and maybe get others involved possibly???

I want to learn how to create objects as well. I have recently started reading the SDK pages trying to learn more about what it takes to do this and would really like to have the ability.

I don't know a thing about C++ or creating .dll's but I'm totally willing to learn, I imagine it's not anything to take lightly though.

Something like these objects would be a good first project to learn with rather than trying to do something with gauges etc.imo

I've read somewhere in the past that you have created 3d objects before, if I'm not mistaken.

I know my way around PS7 pretty well, I could help texturing if that's of any use.

I don't know how much help I could be but I would surly try.

Hi Mark & Co,

I have been populating my own scenery with some custom objects to make them look better, so if you need some custom objects I can let you have some. Only done a start trolley, stairs, tow bar & chocks at the moment.
The screen shot is of my scenery additions to the Bournmouth Airport in the UK.

NICE!!!!

The biggest problem I have with the modeling, is adding textures. I'm hopeless at UVW in gmax and not much better adding textures in FSDS. I guess I am missing the artistic flare required for adding textures that don't look like I pulled them out of a rubbish bin. Shocked

Mark,

I had the same problem in the begining, but I now try and use my own photo's or other photo's where possible for things like the trolley, stairs, missiles etc. and then extend them as necessary. I use them for colour match to get the right colour when I need to make a custom image as well.

Other than that I just use PSP and DXTBMP. One thing I have learnt is that I start with a black background and use 72 pixels as the resolution of the texture.
