The Captain Sim C-130 is my most favorite add-on aircraft.
The FSX version has a few minor qlitches that I'm sure CS will fix.

Frames Per Second (FPS) is a serious problem.  I live in the Dallas/
Ft Worth, Texas area.  Take off from any airport and FPS are in the
single digits, very herky jerky and completely unuseable.  But once
I leave the DFW area FPS jump up to 25-50 (set at unlimited).  At
high altitude (27,000ft) over the country FPS are anywhere from
40-80, smooth as silk.

Fly over DFW at 27000ft FPS drop to 15-25.  Fly over DFW at 5000ft
and FPS drop back into the single digits and becomes a slide show.

Leave and fly back out into the country and FPS jump back up to
higher FPS.

Same for Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington DC. and
any other large congested area with lots of autogen and dense scenery.

The C-130X is a great airplane as long as you stay away from large dense
autogen areas such as big cities and airports.

I'm still glad I bought it and will stick with it until Captain Sim gets all the bugs
worked out.  Hopefully soon?

My autogen is set to very dense and scenery complexity is set to extremely
dense.  Could that be my problem?

My computer specs: (It's not a weak system)
Gateway FX510
Intel Quad Core QX6700
Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX
4 Gb Ram
Windows XP  (FSX SP2)

I have the secenery set to medium and auto gen one click to the left of Dense-

If you have not purchased FEX-go for it-The scenery is fantastic at my settings

I live in Tampa, landing the C-130 15/19 FPS-no problem

Try setting your Nvidia card to the settings at this link below-helped my 8800GTS

Thanks for the FSX Settings link.  My settings are fairly close to
those listed except I use Nhancer to adjust the Video Card.
I like lots of scenery.  There's a price to pay for that.

I'm still experimenting with settings for using the C-130X.  The only
2 aircraft add-ons I have in FSX are the C-130X and the Carenado C-206.
The C-206 gets FPS in excess of 40 everywhere.

Hopefully the SP1 for the C-130X is not far away?

Yes, your auto gen and scenery complexity is your problem!  It's not the C-130.  Don't compare your C-130 frame rates to your stock aircraft frame rates.  If you have any add on aircraft of similar quality and size from any publisher you will see the same results.  Don't compare your C-206 frame rates to your C-130 frame rates, I am absolutely positive that the C-130 is much more complex with animations and other sorts of things than the C-206.  Autogen is the biggest frame rate killer.  Yes it's nice, but it is the most enormous resource hog!  You have got to take that down!

I have learned something!  I turned the autogen down to Normal and frame rates jumped up significately
I've read on other websites, "Turn autogen down, you won't miss it"  Well that is definately true.

I now get FPS in the upper 20's everywhere.  I must apologize to Captain Sim for calling the C-130X a
frame rate hog.

The C-130X is one fantastic airplane.

I can't wait for the B-52.  Captain Sim should put the B-52 at the front of the list.  If it's only 1/2 as
good as the other Captain Sim aircraft, it will be an outstanding addition  to Flight Simulator.

I can't wait for the B-52.
