Some US C-130 Bases for FS9

Print Post
Folks,

I want to share my work with the Virtual C-130 Community.

The sceneries have been uploaded to AVSIM.COM:  Pope AFB, Ft Bragg Dropzones, Little Rock AFB, Hurlburt AFB, Dyess AFB and Davis-Monthan AFB. A search on either the AFB names or my name should result in finding them.

The scenery is by NO means great, but the AFCADs are as correct as I could see on GOOGLE Earth and RWY12 items do give the fields a less of a M$ cookie-cutter feel.  Some have constructively criticized that the scenery is sparse (no offense taken, thank you, BTW) but when I look at GOOGLE Earth and the airport diagrams by NOAA/FAA, they seem to be sparse.  I tried to keep the scenery frame-rate friendly.

I truly hope these sceneries add to to your flight sim enjoyment. They do to mine.

Happy New Year!

Thanks Jim! The C-130 is such a superb model it deserves appropriate airports to fly missions from - you made my day when I saw your airbases on Avsim this morning. I noticed they weren't as 'busy' as some of my civilian airports and then thought about how the military doesn't like to worsen the tooth to tail ratio and you wouldn't expect something less spartan. I'm happy - and I thank you for sharing these with the community.

Jim

Thanks for the work.

Did you take a look at Duke Field by chance?

Russ,

I have Duke saved in my GOOGLE Earth so I know I looked at it.  Let me take a look again at my files to see if I started it.  I'll let you know.

Hey,Jim, thanks a bunch for all the AF bases, already got 'em all loaded.....great job !   Give some thought to Hill AFB, Utah And Lackland AFB, Texas (the old Kelly AFB.  Hill has had and still does a lot of 130 mod work and Kelly, (ah, Lackland )does a lot of Airlift and training...both great bases for a few 130's.

Jim,

Thank you so much for these great pieces of work!  I can confirm that Dyess is OUTSTANDING!!  Little Rock is too.  As for Pope, Hurlburt and DM, well I haven't actually made it out to those bases in the real world yet, so I cannot give any honest feedback.  But if they are as well represented as Little Rock and Dyess, then you certainly have some winning files on your hands for us C-130 lovers!

Thanks again.

Thank you all for your kind words.  I find the ramp lighting too bright but no way to turn it down. Especially at D-M.

Duke was a work-in-progress. ETA next week.  As for the others, I'll probably start them after Duke.

Happy New Year All!

Pilots,

Duke was uploaded over the weekend.  I have just completed Hill, which I must say was a pain in the tail but well worth the effort.

Moody is work-in-progress.  Lackland is next.

Ehaa! Thanks,Jim. I'll pick up that Hill AFB scenery and am looking forward to your Lackland AFB work.  The 433rd AW is stationed there with C-5's.  Not to mention there are always 130's thereabouts.

Thanks again for you good work.

Aircrews.

McGuire AFB is now available on AVSIM.COM.  Although it is not currently a C-130 base, it was in the past. I also live in NJ so McGuire is a favorite of mine.

Enjoy
