Title: Engines shut down during flight Post by Steffen on Jan 17th, 2025 at 6:28pm
P3dv4 C130 For some time now the engines have been shut down unexpectedly during flight. They can be restarted but can shut down again during the flight. Does anyone have any idea what the cause is?

Back from a group flight I study the last vaBaseACARS log files of C130.
Summary of the observations Flight Time Engines Shut down after start 3h 46'' 1h 20' 1h 53' 1h 1h 37' 24' 1h 01' ok 1h 31' 39' 1h 52' 32' 1h 21' 42' All flight are finished after restart the engines during flight. Any ideas to have to look for aircraft parameters? All flight are between FL250 and FL280; no keyboard input during flight. There seems to be a systematic influence of an unidentified parameter. Any ideas to look for? |

Have you tried it with all the fuel valves/fuel crossflow valves OPEN, and all the fuel pumps ON so that fuel is always being fed to the engines from a fuel tank with fuel? See the attached image.

Yesterday I flew a 3 h flight without problems.
But against my normal checklist I flew the complete flight with Aux Pump = ON and cross feed sep. Valve = open. Could it bee that this both parameters have influences of engine shut down during flight? |

The last time I did a flight with the C-130 in FSX/P3D, I had no problems with the way fuel was delivered to the engines. I used the the fuel tank settings I showed in the image. If I have used less than 100% fuel, I deliberately leave certain tanks empty, and for the empty tanks I always turn of the fuel pumps and close the fuel valves for those tanks. It has been quite a few years since I did a really long flight in the C-130, and without any updates since then, I assume it would still work fine. As long as the fuel can be fed to all the engines from the tanks with fuel, there shouldn't be a problem with the engines shutting down during flight.
