Title: How do I get to L1011 Cleared for Takeoff SEA
Post by wingman7 on Feb 27th, 2021 at 10:20pm
I just purchased the L1011 and I see under
FSX>Captain Sim>L1011>flights it has a flight "L1011 Cleared for Takeoff SEA" which I would assume engines are already running and you don't have to do a Cold n Dark startup.  Can't seem to get to that point in the Flight Sim.

To have the L-1011 start in a cold n dark setting, you need to start FSX with a default aircraft, like the C172, and get it to a cold n dark setting, then load the L-1011.
Alternatively. You can set a the default flight to a cold n dark setting. My default flight in FSX is the C172 in a cold n dark setting, except that the Avionics Switch is ON, so every time I load the L-1011 into FSX, it's in a cold n dark setting (except for the Avionics). I have set it this way specifically for Captain Sim products because they don't have an Avionics Switch (except the CS737), and I don't have to use the keyboard shortcut to get the avionics working.
The L-1011 Cleared for Takeoff (KSEA) should be exactly that, ready for takeoff with the engines running, flaps set, etc. You can load this flight at any time by either loading at the FSX start screen (and selecting Fly Now), or loading it via the menu in FSX (Menu > Flights > Load > select flight > Fly Now!). There should also be a flight named L-1011 Cold-n-Dark (KSEA).

Starting the engines onĀ  the L-1011 require a precise method.
Second Officer's Lower Panel
1. You need the APU running, with Bleed Air S/O switch ON (APU Control)
Second Officer's Upper Panel
2. Set both ATM Mode Selector switches to OFF (Hydraulics)
3. Engine 1, 2, and 3 Pack Flow Control Switches OFF (Engine Bleed Control)
Overhead Panel
4. You can now start the engines using the Ground Start Switches (Engine Start)

You can also view the engine start video by Captain Sim here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDFCvy9jyr8

Thanks for your reply.  Going to follow the YouTube video for starting the engines!

One thing though, when I go to Menu>flights>Load none of the L1011 flights are in there to select.  I can only find them in the directory under Flight Sim and there is a file in there called flights, and thats where I see them.  If I click on them nothing happens. But what I can do is get the engines started at the gate and save the Flight.

If you double click on the either the L-1011 Cleared for takeoff (KSEA).FSSAVE, or L-1011 Cold-n-Dark (KSEA).FSSAVE file (the file extention might not be visible, but they should be using the FSX icon  to identify their  association with FSX), they should start FSX, and load the L-1011 in that condition (Ready for Takeoff, or Cold n Dark) into it.

It's strange that they are only in the FSX\Captain_Sim\1011\flights folder, because they should also be placed in the Documents\Flight Simulator X files folder during the installation. I suggest you copy them to the Documents\Flight Simulator X files folder, so you can load them in FSX (also copy the cs1011base.PLN file there as well, and never change, or delete it as it's needed for the Captain Sim INS to function correctly).
