Title: Conversion To Ukraine Currency
Post by Aharon on Feb 24th, 2021 at 3:33pm
Shalom and greetings the management,

Is it safe to shop at Captain Sims??  It says currency is being converted to Ukraine currency but it says it insists that Ukraine currency is safe.

Why is Captain Sims using Ukraine currency?  I thought Captain Sims is American or British software company??

And do I have to pay for currency exchange rate??

Regards,

Aharon

The amount displayed in UAH (Ukrainian Hryvna) is just an internal banking calculation of the USD amount. You do not pay anything extra.

That's totally safe, but if you do not like it, you can use other payment options: https://www.captainsim.com/store/

Thanks for speedy answer and thanks for letting me know I will not be incurred with currency exchange rate service charges.

And thank you for your generous nine buck sale that is great help to all of us who are NOT rich.  Remember that money does not grow on trees  :)

Regards,

Aharon

Captain Sim tech support,

As I predicted correctly, I got latest credit card bill containing last month statement of my normal personal purchases plus purchase of your Captain Sim 707 as well as 707C  and guess what?? The credit card bill did show one dollar charge for foreign exchange service for purchase of Captain Sim 707 and 707C.

Regards,

Aharon

My credit card gets charged an $AU3 ($US2.33 on todays exchange rates) regardless of the international money involved (i.e. same for UK Pound, US Dollar, Euro, etc), so a $US1 charrge is actually better than I get. Sad to say it, but that's how the banks choose to do it here. ;)

Not only that, I sometimes get a $AU2 fee just for using the credit card in some businesses here in Australia as well. :(

Markoz,

2 bucks??  Yikes

Anyway I was not complaining. I am just letting the Captain Sim management know for sake of future purchases of Captain Sim products by future potential customers so that the management can let the new customers know there might be a foreign exchange rate charge for exchange into Ukraine currency.

Regards,

Aharon

When I buy them, I buy in US Dollars, not Ukrainian Hryvna (UAH).
For me, I only see the $US in the store. The only way I can avoid any fees, is to use PayPal to buy the products, but the exchange rate often varies a bit from the bank rate (usually a bit higher if I remember correctly).

I never thought you were complaining, so I was only letting you know that I also get an international transfer fee. It's best to check what the credit card company/bank (I actually use a Debit Card, not a credit card, but it works the same as long as I have the money in the account) are going to charge you when you buy something from overseas.

Note. actually, I think the charge for me is 3%, so that works out to be $AU3 per every $AU100 (or part thereof) that the cost of the product. So mine would get an extra $AU6 for a $AU200 (~$US154.59) product!

That's your bank's fee, which is obviously beyond our control.

But as I said, there's always a chance to use other payment options: https://www.captainsim.com/store/
