Title: Hotfix 1601
Post by Captain Sim on Oct 16th, 2020 at 10:10am
Updated 2020-OCT-17 22:00 UTC

Advanced users only.

Changelog:
- 0116      It would be great so see the control columns move when on autopilot just like in the 767. https://www.captainsim.org/forum/csf.pl?num=1602185768
- 0216      VNAV descent above FL100 always results in speed dropping over 15 knots from commanded speed and THRUST REQUIRED message. Seems calculated descent path is too shallow? Descent winds are entered into the Forecast page. This is with or without and descent restrictions.            https://www.captainsim.org/forum/csf.pl?num=1576518392/45#45

- 0316      "Unable to disconnect Autothrottle using thumb buttons on thrust levers in any phase of flight apart from when on approach. If I try to disconnect the AT during cruise or descent for example, SPD just re-annunciates on the FMA. Only way to do it is to use switch on MCP.
Attempting to disconnect Auto Throttle during cruise using the thrust lever button. Autothrottle remains engaged, and SPD mode re-annunciates on the FMA. Video below.
"      "https://www.captainsim.org/forum/csf.pl?num=1576518392/51#51

- 0416      STILL getting Autopilot warning and yellow line through GS FMA in last 20 feet of landing (someone posted a picture of this exactly problem on the previous page). Happens in manual or automatic flight.            "https://www.captainsim.org/forum/csf.pl?num=1576518392/52#52

Thanks guys, I'm at work until Monday so won't get a chance to test, hopefully someone else can, but looks like a good list of fixes :)

Awesome. Just wondering if the little hydraulic C2 pump issue is being worked on as well?

Looks like some nice changes! Could we get an FSX hotfix to try?

Thanks

After a quick test flight

changelog -0116 working
0316  appears to be functioning correctly
0416 after 6 approaches manual and automatic I did not get the autopilot warning as described.

0216 the THRUST REQUIRED issue appears to be fixed but I experienced an initial slow response to the TOD. The aircraft then descended at 4000 ft/min to catch up and required Drag. Then as it descended through FL200 i experienced strange behavior. The descent rate reduced to zero. the vertical track error was approx 20ft. Then after 60 seconds the vertical track error jumped up to 4500ft high. The aircraft then entered a 4000ft/min descent before finally settling on the VNAV PTH. I tried three times with the same outcomes. Situation saved and attached.

Another observation the DES now function is still not working for me in P3Dv5.

Thanks for this update, working well so far on my end (using FSX).
On another note, I just tried a cruise descent for the first time since 1.503 and that behaved well with -1250fpm and was controllable via the thrust levers.

Some great updates recently!

The DES NOW has always worked for me, just curious what it does for you?

Same issue, and not only for TOD, if the descnt path angle would change due to different al restrictions, the aircraft will had some time out of pace. seems to me the VNAV path are not smoothed like the cruved connection between LNAV route waypoint, so it's physically not possible to follow it at such point.
Most noticeably with RNAV approach, if IF-FAF are level, then the aircraft will need more warbling to follow 3degree glide path with VNAV, than say use the ILS GS.

Nothing at all in Version 5 but works fine in v4.

Following on from the feedback given by Alex T stating that DES Now was working for him, I have this morning carried out a clean reinstall of the 757. I can now confirm I have the DES Now working with the PW2037 version with the new sys dll. But not working for the rr version.

Clearly a problem my end. the only thing I did differently was to download and copy the revised dll with the windows defender off.

I checked DES NOW in P3Dv5 on 57-RR - it works fine for me.

It seems to me while all other changelog are also applied to RR version, the - 0216 VNAV calculation are still there with RR one?

I have tried the new file as requested and the first impression is that there is a definite improvement but there is probably some fine tuning required.

AT TOD the aircraft still descends initially at 4000ft/min and I get a vertical track error of 650ft and the speed increases to 317 from 301. the rate of descent then reduces to 500ft per minute the speed stabilizes before the aircraft again enters a 3500ft/min descent slowly reducing to 200 then finally 1500ft/min. The strange behavior observed previously has gone.

Just an observation but it probably requires a real world 757 to comment. As you approach the TOD the autothrottle starts to reduce thrust at approx 1nm before TOD. AS you hit the TOD there is still approx 2/3rds thrust. I would have thought that it would be approaching idle which would allow a smoother transition onto the descent path.

Files attached.

Keep up the good work.

[FSX 1.6]

HOLD waypoint is shown on the LEGS page with course instead of 'HOLD AT' above its name.

(Manual Part II, pg. 415)
" Leg segment data in line title:
      courses - magnetic (xxx°) or true (xxx° T)
arcs - distance in miles, ARC, turn direction (example: 24 ARC L)
heading leg segments - xxx° HDG
track leg segments - xxx° TRK
special procedural instructions from database - HOLD AT, PROC TURN. "

In the image, HOLD AT is not shown on the second instance of SPL, instead the course is displayed again below the original waypoint:

Using Hotfix 1.61 and this problem is still there. Files attached

The VNAV function is not corrected in hotfix 6.1. In VNAV descent, the airplane speed increases and goes right into the red band. Files attached

ECON cruise speed not change with CI change.
When changing the PREF INIT CI input with preflight or inflight, the speed for CLB and DES are change accordingly, but the CRZ speed stays at Mach.800. file attached when climbing, you can navigate to PREF INIT page to play with the CI.
Related Manual part II p343-CRUISE and p394-COST INDEX.

As I've heard it's same for 767:

in PROGRESS PAGE 1, the DEST line dosen't show DTG, ETA and FUEL for DEST, without select a ARR procedure. regardless the airport ICAO is or not at the final waypoint.

I think it works as it should be in 1.5, the DEST will show a predicted DTG,ETA and FUEL based on direct to airport from final  route waypoint, even without ARR procedure input, it will updata to be more accurte with one inputed though.

As noted by Trevors VNAV decents go right a controlled decent into over speed.

This one is kinda hard to describe, but it's mainly the waypoint's speed restriction not followed after that waypoint.
The save file is captured right after the waypoint. STAR "GUL-1J" to ZPPP (cycle 2011), there is a speed restriction of 205kts at PP533, the VNAV did slow down before PP533 and met the restriction, but after PP533, the VNAV speed bug goes up to 240 again (as SPD TRANS 240/19700 input into VNAV DES).
in the VNAV DES page, I can also see the title shows ACT 205KT DES, but the SEL SPD shows 240, as the yellow bug on speedo.
Hard to find the exact manual description, but all boeing FMCs  should work as a waypoint speed limite at descend should affect all after untill a new one. and that's also the pre-1.50 behaivor.

In VNAV descend, when speed droped 15kts below target speed, AT changed from HOLD to SPD, then as speed back to target speed, it doesn't change to IDLE/HOLD as manual II p346., but directly to HOLD, thus hold a sometimes very high throttle, and risk of overspeed.
after get back to target speed, it should go IDLE first, only after the throttle lever are actually at idle, then it will change to HOLD.
