Mark, I’ve more than hinted at my confusion over the “Rocky” Roman numeral numbering system but it remains a mystery. I suppose I missed a 757 II in my absence. Mea culpa. The 767 and L1011 are both II and “32-bit ports.” They are both attractive purchasing considerations.

In fact, I have seen more enthusiasm on YouTube for the 767 II than the 757 III, although who knows the mysteries of what YouTube decides to show, and the 767 type has more of a history with long-time simmers. I know P3Dv5 is 64 bit. I also know a lot of airplanes—such as an older MD-80 & DC-9—are said to run fine in it. And the two aforementioned v. IIs are explicitly marketed for v5.

Mind you, I have no idea of the practical difference a 32 bit vs 64 bit airplane makes. I have no idea what the advantages of the 757 III are over II or whatever we’re calling the FSX model I had and loved. I intend to buy it—III—because it is perfect for EGLL to LEPA and can make it across the Atlantic, although the 767 would be my choice for that.

I might also pick up the L1011 and the 767. Version II for both.
