Title: Trojan Post by Lukejw20 on Jul 12th, 2020 at 12:10am
Every time I come to this website, I get a notification that a trojan has been blocked, which leads me to believe that there is a trojan hiding on your websites. Can you investigate it so I can come here without having to use anti-virus? This might be affecting others too.

I forgot to include the name of the trojan that is trying to get onto my device. It's called Trojan:Win32/Wacatac and whenever I come here (usually to download the latest 767 update) it tries to infiltrate my system

Web site? May we see a screenshot of that notification on our web site pls? Run just a browser, no other apps. As for the product "trojans": https://www.captainsim.org/forum/csf.pl?num=1489697628 |

Before I downloaded malwarebytes anti-virus, my laptop got infected with it after I came here, and that was on July 4. The IP address of the "trojan" is 209.159.155.201, which is in Newfoundland and Labrador. I have McAfee, but haven't activated it yet, but I downloaded Malwarebytes as a quick fix after I got infected, and it removed it swiftly. My trial expires tomorrow, and I'm admittedly a bit frightened to come here after the expiration. If you could get back to me before midnight eastern time, that would be great and appreciated :)

Thanks.
But where's the trojan? chrome.exe? That's not us) Overal looks like typical AV B$ (fishing for subscription $) |

I pay for Malwarebytes and I get this error message with the website being a Trojan as well. I am using the latest version of Chrome.exe. Additionally, I have tested in internet explorer and also Microsoft edge, all providing errors within the browsers.
I have tested this with both Malwarebytes and Windows Defender disabled, all browsers stated above still do not load. Tested both at work and at home. |

It would be interesting to know why then that the website has the connection errors and Trojan reports that myself and some users have reported.
We don't want to go against you Captain Sim, more so we would like to resolve this issue and help you out of we can. Does anyone else have any ideas as to why the site might be presenting this? I'm sure there are no Trojans and these are false positives, but it would be great to resolve nonetheless. |

I use Mozilla Firefox (v78.0.2), and I tested Microsoft Edge (v83.0.478.64) as well, and I do not get any warnings about a trojan when I go to www.captainsim.com, or the forum (www.captainsim.org/forum/csf.pl)
Note. I don't like Chrome, so it's not installed on my PC, or laptop. |

I'm getting this issue on Firefox now. I don't distrust the site. I wasn't when this was first posted but I am now. I'm thinking its an issue with Malwarebytes.

Also forgot to say, I can't even load captainsim.com. Takes me to an error page.
That's the error page. |

So the problem with the main website was caused my Malwarebytes. Something weird is going on. Sorry for the triple post but the edit feature was removed so don't have a choice for updates.

Very wierd as I'm not having any problems with www.captainsim.com at all.
I wonder what would happen if you cleared all the cookies and site data from the website (attached image shows where to do this in Firefox (v79.0)). |

I wouldn't call it weird, it's very typical: an AV pretends it worth the subscription fee. |
