Title: 757 III P3D V4.5 Taxi

When taxing my speed begans to bleed off too soon. Once you throttle up and began moving you should be able to coast for a bit before speed begins to bleed off.

It has been asked already, with no reply from Captain Sim, so I guess they think that's how it should be. It would appear that physics wasn't quite their strong suit. Shame.

It really is a shame that their PR doesn't think it that important to respond to questions - even if it means to say "we're not looking at that at the moment".

And if you critique that, your post is deleted.

Take a look at page 79 of the CS757CAPTAINIII_MANUAL_PART1.pdf.
All of the people under SPECIAL THANKS were the beta testers for the 757 Captain III.
Notice that almost all are Captains/First Officers? In fact they are/were all 757 pilots, except for me.

During beta it went through quite a few changes with taxiing, and they were happy with the way it was at in the end (the same as it is now).
Knowing this might help you to understand why you probably won't see any changes to the way the 757 III taxis.

So you're saying that captains and first officers agreed that it's totally fine that aircraft that weighs 115 tons, or any vehicle for that matter that weighs as much, will stop in seconds when on  idle thrust, from, let's say 30kt while taxiing on flat surface? I meeeaaaaan... OK.

I just did a test in P3Dv4, and the 757, at 115 tonnes, took about 50 seconds to stop after maintaining 30 knots while taxiing on a flat surface. I wouldn't call 50 seconds "a few".

I did not say "a few", I said "in seconds" which proved to be correct since it took less than a minute for it to fully stop. Now, to compare it to OTHER addon aircraft that we have for simulator, that I won't name, and it took 4 minutes and 45 seconds for it to slow down from 30kt to 10kt! And it just continued rolling, which is correct behavior if we apply law of inertia. I stopped there because I ran out of runway, it would have kept going and going. I even shut down engines as soon as I reached 30kt to eliminate the possibility that idle thrust is propelling it.

If you don't want to compare it to other developer's aircraft, just have a look for some real videos of aircraft taxiing. In most of cases they add break off thrust and then just continue rolling on idle, adding some thrust every now and then. I've seen 777(I know, it's not a 757, but it should be capable of doing the same) in 90deg turns without adding any thrust what so ever, that's not possible with CS 757. If you're slow, for example, 7kt and start a 90degree turn, it will stop in the middle of a turn, and I think it should be able to complete the turn with no issues. With CS aircraft you need to add thrust often to keep it between 20 and 30kt during taxi. Same thing is with new 767, I don't own it but I've seen people on Twitch using it. As soon as you bring it back to idle, speed bleeds off too quickly.

I would say that friction model is bad in Captain Sim aircraft, friction seems to be just too much. I'm not trying to make CS look bad, I just want to enjoy flying this aircraft as much as I enjoy flying other aircraft.

Yeah another company 737 NGX has this same issue, but they corrected it with the NGXU model.

The CS757 III would be my favorite aircraft to fly if it weren't for this issue. I especially notice it with the PW version. The plane constantly grinds to a stop when rounding 90 degree turns when beginning the turn at 10kts. If the ground friction is correct, shouldn't you be able to taxi on one engine as done in the real world all the time? I challenge you to try this in the CS757. I love everything else about this airplane so it's sad that such a simple thing is detracting from the excellent work that was put into it. I beg you to fix this.

Thanks,
Matt

CS didn't use costume ground friction as some top add-ons do, their solution on FSX/P3D's buggy standard ground friction is to make engine more powerful as soon as it left idle, you can see it from FuelFlow, at ground idle, the FF is about correct, but as soon as you push a little throttle, the FF goes about twice high, that makes "cruise taxi" with just right amount throttle almost impossible.
To be fair it's common practice before costume ground friction became a thing, like on iFly 737/747 and even the new Feelthere Ejets v3. Just hope CS could do better than it is now.

Matt,

I have mentioned this in other threads as well hoping for a fix.  I agree that at least on my system the aircraft is very difficult to taxi smoothly given the ground friction.  This is particularly a problem for me when lining up at the gate.  They seem to have done a better job with the ground physics with the new 767 although it too will quickly slow down in any turn.  I also agree with the rest of your comments.  I really like the plane but for this issue.  While it would seem this may have been a subject for the beta team it is, on my system, problematic.  Hopefully CS will consider this for an update.  By the way I am using P3dv5.

Regards,

Even the 10+ year old 757 made by the other developer gets the taxi friction more realistic. The day (if it comes) this is corrected, will be the day I buy the 767 right away.
