Title: DXGI ERROR DEVICE HUNG In P3D V5 Post by NiklasCGN on Jun 9th, 2020 at 6:24am
Hello Guys I hope you can help me with a big problem. Since I’ve updated to P3D V5 I had no issues with my sim. Yesterday I bought the CS 767 and every time I change the view to the outside my sim stucks and it shows up this message “ DXGI ERROR DEVICE HUNG”. Currently I am using a GTX 1060 6gb, I5-6600k and 24gb ram. I was wondering what is causing this problem as for example I can play with all PMDGs on the max setting fluently but even after I degred the Settings my sim crashes using the 767. I tried to use the 767 only in the cockpit view but even there it crashes after 2h of flying. I have installed the newest versions of everything. I hope somebody knows a solution and sorry for my bad English.

The 'DXGI ERROR DEVICE HUNG' will occur once the sim runs out of available VRAM, since the 767 is suchs a higly detailed addon aircraft it will require more VRAM than others.
I suggest you try lowering some VRAM intensive settings, such as the Truesky cloud resolution. |
Title: Re: DXGI ERROR DEVICE HUNG In P3D V5 only with CS 767 Post by Senchay on Jun 9th, 2020 at 8:35pm
Partly true. It can also happen if the gpu is stressed too much and tasks take too long to finish, without vram being too full. There is a 2 sec limit and if the task isnt done in this timeframe it gives a dxgi device hung too.

Hi all, I am having this same issue. Really excited for this aircraft but it crashes with a device hung error as soon as the plane loads in. I have turned down all the settings in ACE but that does not seem to solve the problem. I know I don't have the strongest system 1660TI OC 6gb and i5 9600k Turbo up to 4.8ghz but I have ran every single performance heavy aircraft for p3dv5 at at least 30FPS with high quality add-on airports, ORBX products installed, active sky, etc and never had a crash like this. My p3d settings are on medium and reasonable levels. Is there 2k textures that work with V5 or any other known solutions to this problem? Thanks for the help.

Also I might add, upon crashing and DXGI_ERROR my GPU is showing only 2.7/5.0 GB used and approximately 40 FPS in the VC. Not sure I understand what the problem is considering there is more than enough VRAM and I am at default airport with no Active Sky. |

Here's what I know, if I move the glacs XML out of the aircraft folder and the glacs folder, I do not get the hung error. If I put those two things back in the aircraft folder, I get the error within 20 seconds of using the 767. I didn't have this issue on any of the beta versions, just version 1.0. Maybe you could try that and see if it does the same for you and Captain SIm could check into it

DXGI ERROR DEVICE HUNG In P3D V5 Hotfix 2, CS 767.
I get this message as soon as the aircraft loads up. V0.99 updated. No error on previous version. GTX 1080TI, I7-8700K No issues with any other addon aicraft. |

I confirm the issue with 0.99. During my 2 attemps I didn't have the error at the end of loading but few minutes after while proceeding with startup checklist. Note that it was at night time and enough VRAM. No problem with 0.98 and P3Dv5 in similar conditions. |

Try to disable (rename) ...\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B767-300ER-II_PW4060\panel\Captain_Sim.glacs.dll file.

Title: Still CTD with hotfix 0991, help is appreciated. Post by Traian_Vuia on Jul 26th, 2020 at 11:40pm
Hi,
Unfortunately, after applying hotfix 0991 over 0990 I'm still getting CTD and the following message for my GeForce RTX 2080Ti DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG. To be noted that this is only applicable for the 767, none of the other airplanes do this. Any help is appreciated. Thank you! |

I turned that file off and now the CTD I got every time i launched this plane went away. But what does this file do? I had no problems with CTD's until I installed the most recent hotfix. |

I have the same issue. It happened to me on a flight to LEST which another developer has made the airport software. The error only happened to me when flying to this airport.
I contacted the tech support for that airport and was told that the problem is I am running my sliders too high in my simulator. hahahaha. Why can't someone address the problem instead of trying to cover it up? turn of this, rename that..... that is a short term fix. We ask for solutions to problems that have cropped up in newly release software. When will we get answers? |
Title: Re: DXGI ERROR DEVICE HUNG In P3D V5 Post by N90831 on Jul 28th, 2020 at 7:10pm
And one more thing.....
We are told to delete, rename or change a certain .dll file. Well, that new DLL file is part of the cost of the entire new software. If it is flawed then we should get a small refund for that part of the software? or We should get a fix to the file (dll) that is causing the problem? Just asking quetions. |

I was having this same issue with HF2, no problems with HF1. Turns out that Riviatuner Server was running in the background and was installed when I first ran MSi Afterburner. I removed it this morning, installed HF2 and no issues so far.

Same here with v0.99 and the 0.991HF1 installed. no issues in 0.98. I run a GTX1080Ti Games OC 11GB. No issues with another company A3XX or another company 737NGXu

That's not a fix at all but a diagnostic step. |

I can confirm the same error ... so far renaming the Captain_Sim.glacs.dll to Captain_Sim.glacs.dll.off seems to prevent the error from returning.
Cheers, Rob. |

Hello,
I can confirm I was receiving this CTD and error in the latest version of Prepar3D V5. I did as mentioned on this thread and renamed this file “Captain_Sim.glacs.dll“ to OFF and the CTD and error went away and the aircraft is now useable. I believe this file is for the rain effects, is this likely to be addressed in a future update so we are able to have the rain effects without the CTD. The rain effects really add to the immersion for me. Congratulations on your release of the 757 for V5. I look forward to flying it in V5. Many thanks, Jonathan |

Well I have to say I am appalled with this. This is an expensive plane, and I have tried everything suggested in this forum, turning things off, renaming this and that etc (none of which should have to be done). P3Dv5 still crashes every time I use the 767. I run a 2080 Super and have no issues with any other addon aircraft at high settings. Are Captain Sim saying this will only run on a 3080, and if so that should have been stated. I want a resolution or a full refund as this product is seriously flawed and we have been deceived.
Fed up of waiting now, sort it out |

I don't think the 767 is entirely to blame here. I put some of the blame on LM because this issue seems to only exist in P3D5. I've never heard any reports of it in P3D4 and I've certainly never experienced it, I don't own v5. Something changed between 4 and 5. Not saying the 767 isn't to blame at all but its not only the 767 causing this issue. I've seen reports of other addons causing this issue only in P3D5. |

Maybe it will help if I reply to this. Posted another topic about this and it has gone without a reply. I've done everything suggested here and still get the error despite having over 1GB dedicated VRAM available when I use Shift+Z...
