Nothing appears in the PFD when I push the LOC or APP buttons and there is no capture. Everything, lined up perfectly otherwise.

any ideas??

I haven't had any problems capturing ther ILS/GS using LOC or APP recently.

I can think of at least one reson it might happen, but I might be grasping at straw if I say it. :o

I tried twice at JFK (4L and 4R).  Nothing happens in the PFD (no new indicators).  Will try again later or tomorrow. Haven't had this problem before.

what am I doing wrong? flow this approach a thousand times.

Also, tried KFLL and PBI-- no capture.

I did have a try in the 777 at capturing the KJFK RWY 04L ILS/GS, and it looked like I had. The bad thing was that I was NOT aligned with the runway. I was so far off to right, that I wasn't even aligned with RWY 04R.

I intend to give it another try later today. I will report my findings once it's done.

You seem to be having trouble capturing the ILS, but I can, and have had, many autolandings, and good ones at that. The attempt at KJFK RWY 04L yesterday, was literally a takeoff from KLGA to KJFK, using only the RWY and TRANS, but no STAR, for the arrival.

My next attempt will be a slightly longer flight so that I can use a RWY/STAR/TRANS for the arrival at KJFK. After that, I will look at KFLL, and KPBI for you.


Edit. I just landed at KJFK, on RWY 04L, without any problems. It captured the ILS and GS just like it should. Same for landing on KFLL RWY 09L (the default markings on the runway - 10L in AIRAC cycle 1907)

I appreciate your help, but No matter where i go, what i do --no captuure. I have owned this for 2 weeks , and i like it, but it doesn't work. It did work a few times when i first used it, but now it is pretty useless because i can't land. Like my photo above, The PFD never indcates that the LOC or APP is operating (fast approach speed here because i knew it probably wouldn't work). I have also reinstalled the program twice--never works.  AIRAC Cycle 1908

Maybe your AV/Windows Defender have interfered with you install, so I suggest the following:

Uninstall the 777.
Download it again (make sure your AV and/or Windows Defender are off/disabled).
Install it while the AV and/or Windows Defender is off/disabled, making sure to right click on the installer, and select "Run as adminstrator".
Run P3Dv4 and see if it works properly now.

Note. I have D:\Prepar3D v4 included in my Anti Virus exclusions list for added saftey - sometimes the AV will remove a file it considers a threat (there are none in the files from the Captain Sim site/store) after it's installed because it couldn't do it while it was off/disabled during the download, and installation.

ok, tried everything you said: made admin, made exception on my AV, reinstalled and i still can't capture the localizer. Nothing in PFD either.

On your next flight, when you come within 20nm of the airport (that is usually when both the ILS, and GS become visible on the ND), I suggest you save the flight, then go to Documents\Prepar3D v4 Files and add the xxx.cs.config, xxx.fxml,  and xxx.wx files (where xxx = saved flight name) to a zip file, then go to the 777 Captain II - Bug Tracking > SYSTEMS & DYNAMICS forum, explain the problem, and attach the zip file of the flight. That way Captain Sim can look and see if there is something there that will hopefully lead to a fix for your problem.

Ok, I appreciate your help. I’ll do it as soon as I can. 

Experienced simmer (20+ years) and I find this very frustrating, but I understand that these problems do arise.  (Not as often as before fortunately. )

Most likely, the ILS in your flight is in the PARK mode. You can try to do the following:
- while approaching, go to the NAV RAD page
- press LSK4L - the ILS freq/course will appear in the scratchpad
- press LSK4L once again - the ILS will switch in M mode.
After that the LOC should be captured and activated on the PFD FMA.

That's it!  That was the problem.  I have never heard of "PARK MODE", but it's fixed.

I have seen the ILS freq in PARK mode many times, often after setting up the route, including the ARR, and then opening the NAV RAD page on the CDU. It changes once I get within a certain range of the arrival airport (I'm not sure what distance that is but it appears to be around 60nm, possibly sooner).

I.e. It will change from 110.10/335 PARK to 110.10/335A (automatic mode?).

Yes, I switched when I was about 40 Nm.  No problem.  Thank you for taking the time to help me out.

Problem solved!  Astutely observed by "VS" in the 777 forum the ILS was in "PARK MODE" on the NAV RAD. Never heard of that, but I just executed a perfect auto land.
