Title: FD indications on takeoff
Post by tommchowat on Jun 6th, 2019 at 7:54am
Hi Guys,

Firstly, well done on the plane, it's fast becoming a very usable aircraft. One thing I'm struggling with though is the flight director indications on takeoff, particularly the pitch bar. It never commands a pitch to maintain V2 - V2+20. Below example from today, I'll give as much info as I can:

Aircraft - PW2037
Airport - KATL, 27R/M20
Weather - 210/5, 24C
FMC - TO, derate to 46C, speeds 146, 149, 151, accel height 1000
MCP - EPR 1.39, V2 151, LNAV armed
FMA - EPR/TO/TO

Rotate at 3 degrees per second, initially up to 15 degrees. However the flight director commands a pitch of about 9 degrees. If I follow this command, the speed just increases to well beyond V2+20. Only after I engage VNAV at accel height do the FD commands become sensible again. I find that the problem gets worse the higher the derate.

Any ideas? Or any other members experience anything similar?
