Title: 707 will not install
Post by PUNNETT on Jan 27th, 2019 at 10:14pm
Hi,

I have noticed a few other threads on this but I cannot find if the recommendations actually worked. I am trying to install in FSX and the 'install' button is grayed out. I have right clicked and installed as an administrator and turned off AV also but still no luck. Sorry in advance if the answer is out there but I have trawled the 35 pages three times now. Thanks

Does the installer automatically find the FSx location? You should see something similar to what I see in the attached image, when installing for FSX, and/or FSX-SE, and the INSTALL button is available for both.
What do you see/not see in the installer, when the INSTALL button is grayed out?

Hi,

Yes it does find the FSX location which I have copied and pasted below so everything looks just fine. The box looks exactly the same as yours butthe problem is that the you cannot click on the install box.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\

- go to FSX root folder (where fsx.exe located)
- copy and paste fsx.exe
- rename fsx - Copy.exe as FS9.exe
It should help.

I'm not sure if that would have worked for me. First, I have an fs9.exe, fs2000.exe, and fs2002.exe, in both my FSX, and FSX-SE installations. So I would have had to backup/rename the fs9.exe before I could rename fsx - Copy.exe as FS9.exe.

Does that mean that PUNNETT didn't have the additional fs9.exe, fs2000.exe, and fs2002.exe, files in the root FSX folder?

I'm happy to hear that you finally got the 707 Captain installed.

I don't think I would have ever have come up with that solution seeing as I already have an fs9.exe in both my FSX, and FSX-SE root folders.

Hi Mark, I would never have guessed it would have worked either but I am always willing to give anything a go. When I saw the install button highlight I was so happy so thank you for all your help.
