Title: P3Dv4
Post by Wings of Gold on Nov 12th, 2018 at 9:41pm
I note that the Captain Sim "727 Captain" is listed (under "Products") in the :FSX/SteamEdition\P3D" category. Selecting that item in the list takes me to the 727 Captain Proline page, which also states that the "727 Captain Family of expansions (is) for FSX, FSX Steam and PREPAR3D". HOWEVER selecting the "727-100 Base Pack-Overview (listed below) - then says: (the) 727-100 Base Pack FSX/SE version does NOT work on Prepar3D...

So (Captain Sim), these are contradictory statements. What is it? Does the 727 Captain have any P3D functionality - or not? I will add it for my P3Dv4 version - but not unless I know what platform is works with.

Good question, thanks.
1. The 727 Captain is available for FSX, FSX Steam and P3D. True.
2. FSX/SE version does not work on P3D and vice versa. True.
3. BUT all of the above are 32-bit anyways, so none of them will work on P3D4.

Aslo, there's an easy way to check which product fits your sim: just check a proper sim version checkbox at our online store

Is there a release date for a P3D4 version? This is the aircraft that started me with CaptainSim, in my FSX days, and my favorite. I now run P3D4 exclusively... Also the 707?

Thanks!

Recently,  a survey was released by Navigraph that P3D v4 was the leading Flight Sim! Hoping, CS will up grade B727, soon!

I already asked them why it's taking so long and the following is the answer they gave me:

Probably because each product is very sophisticated mix of 2/3D art and thousands of pages of code handwritten in accordance with thousands of pages of the aircraft manuals.
Multiply by 41 active products.

I surely agree that it takes a revised code to make the product compatible but I don't think the aircraft manuals will change because of a new version of SIM (except for the installation).

Personally I think you can forget about the 727 update to P3D v4.4.
Users are asking this update for almost 2 years now (https://www.captainsim.org/forum/csf.pl?num=1496506789/0 ) and nothing has moved yet.

CS said somewhere, dont remember which topic that they have no plans for the 727 in P3D v4. But that was last year so they may have changed their minds. It's really sad if they decide not to make it cause next the the 757 the 727 is my favorite aircraft. And I loved the CS one in fsx. Not to mention that afaik there isnt even a 727 in P3D v4 at all. Not payware anyway. Could be wrong on that. I mean we only just now got the 777 after many many months with no ports. Fingers crossed.

My favourite aircraft the 727   pity another company  didnt do one and a pity Capt Sim didn't upgrade their one for Prepar3d V4 straight away but it's a big job new coding etc .. understand that

I'm confused, doesn't the CS store have the P3D base package and expansions for the 727?

Yes they do, but it is only for P3Dv2 and P3Dv3

Still no P3DV4 for the 707 or 727 - it's a shame as there's alot of demand to fly them on several well known VAs.

Are you considering developing a new version for p3dv4?

I know there is a lot to consider when deciding whether to update an aircraft to P3D 4.5 but just for the record--it is one of my favorite aircraft too and I would buy it right away.

I'd pay top dollar for a P3D 4.5 727.  Like 100 US.   Maybe more if they added some features.

I wouldn't count on it tbh. Maybe for V5. It's been 3 years now. The sad thing is that it was originally on the P3Dv4 upgrade list but was removed for some unknown reason.

Does anyone know if the 727 for v3 will work in V4?

Most likely it won't as I'm sure the gauges and stuff will have to be made to 64 bit code.
