Title: V-Speeds for CS 707-320
Post by Simtech on Sep 14th, 2018 at 7:37pm
I have the V-speed for this plane but it's only for 15 degree flap settings. Are there any other v-speeds available for other flap settings? If not, how would I add them and to what file? Thank you for any assistance.  Terry

Paul Tally made a V-one gauge for the CS 707.
Search for "v-one_707_complete.zip" in the Avsim Library.

Quote:
File Description:
This gauge is specifically written for Captain Sim B707-300 and variants. List of features: [New Items/Features] Twenty-Two call-outs sounds integrated into gauge [15 new call-outs]. Take-off V-Speeds calculated for Flaps 14 with temperature and altitude adjustments. [Take-off speed bugs automatically set for: V1, VR, V2]. [Flaps-up maneuvering speed (clean speed) bug set after flaps-up]. Optimum altitude and optimum EPR (EPR calc for M.80) are continually calculated. Gross Weight overage will display in 'red' text. Tooltip indicates overweight value (LB/KG). Take-off trim calculated for current gross weight. Display units can be toggled between LB and KG (default LB). Outside Air Temperature can be toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius. Resettable fuel use. Resettable flight timer. [Selectable Vref landing configurations, Vref40 (default) or Vref50]. [Approach / landing speed bugs automatically set for: Vref, Vref + 5, Vref + 10]. ZFW, Fuel, CG, Gross Weight and Barometric Pressure MSL (QNH) displayed. ['Barometer Set' call-out occurs when pressing keyboard letter 'B' (V-One gauge must be open)]. [Decision Height adjustment now on Data Card in hidden click-spot located on upper right corner]. [Now installation to a single location will work for all variants].

Markoz, thank you for the reply... That's the one I have and it works like a champ; excepting, it only computes V-speeds for flaps @15. I think the bugs on the ASI do move with different flap settings, but the V-speeds on the TO data card does not update. Is there any way to make this happen?

I have never used anything but Flaps 14 for takeoff.
Tpo be honest, I don't think you're supposed to use more than Flaps 14 for take off. If you look at the ‘707 Captain’ FLIGHT MANUAL Part III – Normal Procedures (csx707_manual3.pdf), there is no mention of using more than 14o of flaps for take off:

TAXI-OUT PROCEDURE
....
Flaps                                                                 EXTEND
Check LE FLAPS lights illuminate and both outboard and inboard flap position indicators indicate 14.
....

and

AMPLIFIED BEFORE TAKEOFF CHECKLIST
....
Flaps                  14, 14, GREEN LIGHTS            С
Check both flap position indicators indicate 14 and green LE FLAP lights illuminated.
....

:D  Hey, Markoz.. thank you again for the HU. I just thought that by using more flaps the rotation speed is lower for shorter rwys. But in this instance, I guess I should have RTFM. You're such a fountain of information, thank you for keeping me on my toes.

Have a great one...

Just a side note concerning the CS707 installation and the V-One speed module. If I change liveries and keeping the same model, then the next plane that loads gets a "Create Sound Buffer failed" and then"DirectSound failed to initialize" msg. If I reload FSX program, then the first CS707 that loads, starts ok.  but if I  select another ac, the fault msg comes up as the model loads. Any Ideas??

Does this happen if you switch to a default FSX aircraft, like the C172? To avoid any issues with the more advanced aircraft, I always switch to the default C172, then, to the next advanced addon aircraft. I must admit, I don't remember having that problem switching between the same aircarft type, but I don't normally switch between different variants after I have completed a flight.

I'll give it a try and see. I  know it fails when I switch to another addon that isn't a default. I'll update shortly... :'( It doesn't seem to matter what I load in after CS 707,  I tried default a/c and even CS-727, the 727 loaded ok not faults, but when I tried loading the 707 again, immediate fail after the opened the airport scene. It will only work if the 707 is the first a/c loaded after FSX initialization... Weird... :-[

Hi guys. I installed this amazing tool, I followed all the steps that are in read.me, but the data card does not appear, only V1 appears. Does anyone know what the problem is?  :'(

Bento, Is it possible you overlooked putting the "datacard" gauge in the panel. Either in a new window, or V01? The "Datacard" gauge is separate from the v-speed gauge. I'm just spit-balling here..If you set up a new window and tagged it ie, Window 07, then you have to manually open that window to see it. It won't show up automatically unless you placed it in the [V01] section.

I think the 707 is generally not suitable for "short" runways. You will not really gain RWY-Meters with high flaps settings. I never choose a runway shorter than 8.000 feets - and this is really barely for the 707  ;)

I think it is possible with very few fuel and no payload to take off from a 6000 field, but never tested.

Hi guys!
In fact this plane was capable of 5000 feet runways for very special operations like maintenancehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_iU2Jam0Qo&index=2&list=PL0ZWg-wPO6Ol1v9KB9sUaAjG65oejodVZ&t=0s!

No doubt about that, but I'll bet the 707's in the video were very light (no cargo, no passengers, and not a lot of fuel). In that video, they probably did short hops to, and from, a nearby airport with a longer runway. ;)

There is one, taking off with fuel to Khartoum and 12 tons of freight in Part3 of these series. these kind of operations, of course, are marginal. I flew the DC8-55 and 72CF as flight engineer in French Air Force, all over the globe, sometimes in very remote places but never on such short runways. The DC8 doesn't have slats, only slots, which is very different. Take-off speeds are higher than those of the 707, my two cents the VMCG and VMCA are lower on the 707!
