Title: Autopilot disfunctional?
Post by turbo95 on Jun 28th, 2018 at 11:06am
Armed for ILS capture with AP engaged (aileron/elevator) and altitude hold set to "on".  Change AP to Nav to capture localizer.  It does so but only after I disengage the HDG hold (should do so automatically).  When established I set AP to AutoILS (Manual ILS setting used in Youtube video but on v2.7 it disconnects the altitude hold as it should) Glide slope appears on the ADI but sometimes stays orange on annunciator.  But even if it is green, the aircraft fails to follow the GS.  I must do so manually or it stays at selected altitude.  Throttle control seems to have too much delay but i usually manage to get speed down to Vref+10 with Flaps 25 and Gear down as GS beam becomes active.  Still the aircraft refuses to follow the GS.  I have read the manuals and have a copy of the real 727 FCOM which Captain Sim has wonderfully simulated in almost all regards.  But AP seems not to be responding as it should.  Any suggestions?

Craig

I think I have it sorted now!  I was leaving it on GPS tracking instead of NAV tracking.  Something so simple!  It now seems to be spot on all the way to CAT II mins.

If you're using the latest version, v2.7, it's a switch above the Marker Beacon Lights, on the Centre Consol, marked NAV (above) and GPS (below). See attached image. As far as I can remember, on the older versions, it's still that switch, but it might not be marked as NAV/GPS.

Thanks for the reply Mark.On my version, that same switch is labelled "MARKER" High & Low. I assume it will work as GPS/NAV, but will give it a go. No wonder I couldn't find it anywhere.

That's why it was changed for the latest versions (FSX/SE, and P3Dv3). Can't you get the latest version (v2.7)?

I can't remember where I got the original version from now, it was a long time ago. It wasn't from Captain Sim though. Hven't flown it for years and found it again in my hangar recently.
I'll just put up with this one, good practice hand flying.
Have you got or know anything about the old another company 777?
