Title: Autothrottle
Post by diajohn on Jan 27th, 2018 at 7:06pm
My autothrottle does not go to idle on touchdown.  Is this normal?

Disregard.  The problem has not repeated itself.  Thanks.

No. It's not normal if the throttle is not going to idle on touchdown.

Mine works fine though, so if yours doesn't, you have a problem. After takeoff, when you turn the Autothrottle ON, set the throttle lever on your joystick/controller to idle, and see if that fixes your problem.

Today I flew a flight and tried a landing with Autothrottle on and SPD set, thrust levers on idle, and AP off.  On touchdown the thrust did not go to idle.  And by the way, why is there no touchdown sound?  Needless to say the landing was a mess.

Does the thrust idle only if AP is on?

This happened to me today as well.
It would have been nice if the autothrottle did not register movements on my throttle levers when engaged.

Same here....Autothrottles do not retard.

Were you performing an autoland or just landing with the auto throttles on but flying manually? If you were flying manually, the auto throttles won’t go to idle because they aren’t designed to. The only time you should leave them connected is if you are performing an autoland. When manually flying the 757 in any phase of flight except takeoff and climb, the auto throttles should be disconnected and thrust should be manipulated manually. So long story short, the sim is correct. 8-)
