Title: VC colors
Post by MatthiasKNU on Jan 3rd, 2018 at 9:13am
Hi

Just one question:
Are the cockpit colors correct?
They seem a bit too bright to me when I compare this with my own pictures and other pictures from the web....

(Cannot post links or pictures, sorry...)

The color and the tone are exact match with the real cockpit paint sample. But P3D4 has the High-dynamic-range imaging feature (HDR) that adjust a picture according to the view direction and the lighting condition.

For example, same time, same place P3D (HDR on) and FSX screens attached:

P3D4 with HDR off will produce a picture similar to FSX one.

Ah, ok.
So it's the P3D-HDR again.
You're right, it looks really good in FSX.
Then I have to see if I can adjust the colors in P3D a little bit...
Thank you!

We don't think that's a good idea because HDR is a dynamic feature with hundreds (thousands?) gradations. You'll never match all of them anyways.
Moreover, if you darken the tone to adjust the daylight exposure you'll get underexposed dusk/down/night cockpit.

You're right, the VC looks perfect at night.
Just so, as an idea:
Is it possible to darken the textures a bit during the day and brighten up the night textures? (Or does that look bad?)

Title: 757 Cockpit mod
Post by Wickedbacon on Dec 31st, 2018 at 1:56am
Hello,

I've purchased the 757 III recently for P3D v4, and really am enjoying the aircraft, a pleasure to fly and more so to look at.

It's been bugging me about the panel color, and some other aspects of the cockpit, which i've read is due to HDR, as i've seen the images of the v3 version being much closer to the real thing.

I've done some color corrections to closer match the real cockpit.

My question is, is it acceptable to share this via the forums or other means, for users that would like a change of scenery(in the cockpit)? I realize these original files are property of Captain Sim, therefore do not want to be in violation of your terms.

If a Captain Sim member could clarify any of this for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Picture for attention!

Thanks for clarifying, I will enjoy it for myself then!  :)

Why not ? There are some people who would like a different color of the VC, and as long as the proper credits given, what is the harm ? Maybe you could also offer to host the mod on the forum.

Well because it would make it unsupported if anything went wrong. As CS did not make this sorta modification. Ex: the cockpit will get much more darker at night. Anything that goes wrong would be a headache for the Dev(CS), the painter (the modder), and the end-user (you).
