Title: New user add-on livery question
Post by RobCom on Aug 14th, 2017 at 5:39pm
Hey ya'll, first let me say THANK YOU very much for this great aircraft!! I love it and can't wait for more to be made compatible for P3Dv4.

Now to my question, as a new user I'm a bit confused on which livery file I should use for the versions I have, I'm at the AVSIM download folder right now, I want to know which file I should use.

What I have is this:
737-200 (Base Pack) [P3D4]

737 Captain (737-200ADV) Expansion Model [P3D4] v2.00

737 Captain (737-100) Expansion Model [P3D4] v2.00

Do I use the normal file or the (adv) Advanced file? OR will they both work?

thanks,
RC

The best way to go is to download the liveries for the specific aircraft.

If the livery is for the 737-200, then add it to the 737-200.
If the livery is for the 737-200ADV, then add it to the 737-200ADV.
If the livery is for the 737-100, then add it to the 737-100.

It is possible to use a livery for the 737-200 on the 737-200ADV, and use a livery for the 737-200ADV on the 737-200, but liveries for the 737-200, or the 737-200ADV will not work on the 737-100.

Have downloaded some Liveries through my account, but when I use ACE to install, they cannot be added. Did the Copy/Paste of the .cfg add entry, texture file, but still do not see the livery in P3Dv4.

Any ideas?

When adding liveries manually, make sure that all of the areas in bold red text are modified to suit the livery (of which I have provided brief instructions of what to do), as shown here:

[fltsim.X]     <- Must be the next consecutive number after the last entry!
title=CS 737-200 Captain PaintX      <- I match this number with the [fltsim.X] number
sim=csx732       <- must be the correct one for the model: csx731 (-100), csx732 (-200 & -200ADV), csx733 (-200C & -200F).
model=200      <- Must be the correct one for the model: (100, 200, adv, c, or f)
panel=
sound=
texture=aa       <- Must match the name of the texture folder (i.e. texture.aa) where the livery files are located.
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id=N754UA       <- Aircraft registration
atc_heavy=0
atc_airline=American Airlines       <- Airline name
atc_flight_number=0001
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=737-200       <- Aircraft type
ui_variation=American Airlines       <- Variation/livery name
ui_typerole=Commercial Airliner
ui_createdby=Captain Sim
description=737 Captain (737-200) v1.7\n(c) 2015 Captain Sim www.captainsim.com       <- Livery desescription (This usually includes the name of person who created the livery).

I hope this helps you with getting them working in P3D. ;)

Hi Mark

Many thanks for that. Will try it out later tonight.

I had just copied the supplied aircraft.cfg add-on text for the model as furnished in the Livery folder, into the P3D/SimObjects/CaptainSim/737/aircraft.cfg as there was only one singular aircraft.cfg file.

Okay, had a look at your tip, Mark, and then realised, it was the wrong aircraft I was trying to add a Livery for. It should have been for the ADV variant and it was not installed.

Have now installed that ADV variant and subsequently managed to add the Britannia livery via ACE. Result.
