What I do, is approach the ILS at no more than a 30^o angle, and below the Glide Slope.
I set the AP to AUTO APP, until it has captured the GS, then I set it t MAN G/S (I find that this helps it hold the GS a bit better), then once I'm about 3-4nm out, I switch it back to AUTO APP.
Once I reach the Decision Height (usually set to 100-200 feet), I turn the AP off (press the Z key on the keyboard), and land the 737 manually.

I would really like to upload a video (YouTube), to show you how I do this, but at the moment, I can't get Nvidia Shadowplay to start/stop recording when I want it to. It isn't automatically saving the last 10 minutes of play either, so until I get those working, I can't upload a video to YouTube. :(
