Title: SP2.6 Broke my CIVA-INS
Post by David Paul on Jul 25th, 2015 at 12:59pm
SP 2.6 has broken the CIVA-INS on my system.

Everything stock, fresh clean install.   The INS aligns, goes green, switch to NAV mode.   I takeoff, get cleaned up, ATC turns me to first fix, fly to fix with AP on, Manual mode, HDG switch on, selector on "B".    I get to the point where ATC tells me to turn and proceed on course, I switch to "A" on the selector, the plane keeps following the manual heading setting.

It was working as it should in 2.5

I've found that if you put the autopilot source selector on AB, HDG switch on, the CIVA will drive the heading.

However, it seems that the WAYPT CHG procedure doesn't work, or I'm doing it wrong.   If I select a different waypoint the indicators on the CIVA change but the airplane continues to fly to the next waypoint, not the one I selected.

Also, the heading bug is still about 5-7 degrees to the right of where the airplane actually steers.

This is with the recently installed 2.6 - which is a great update.  But still a few bugs, maybe.

Haha, they pulled a switcheroo!   AB on the Nav Source Selector does work, and they changed the manual to reflect that.

They also seem to have fixed the issue I was having where ASN was seemingly interfering with the INS alignment.

I wonder what else changed from 2.5 to 2.6?

::)

The way waypoint change works on my setup is if I'm flying from wpt2 to wpt3, and I want to fly direct to, say, wpt7, I hit wy pt chg, 2 7 insert.

You are correct, that procedure works.  I was entering 6 7 not 2 7 in your example.

The changes since patch 2.5 are:

- CIVA alignment and Active Sky Next compatibility fixed
- HDG bug fixed
- Flaps gauge fixed

Yeah, I will put my 727 in operation again!  :D

If you want to fly direct to, for example to the waypoint 7, enter 0 7 (where 0 is the present position), and the aircraft flys to this waypoint.

I hope it hepls

Just completed a flight where I put the autopilot source selector on AB, HDG switch on, and confirmed that the CIVA will drive the heading, as suggested above by Dutch.

Version 2.6 is a great improvement.  Routinely can fly with Active Sky Next, Plan-G, and FSX Fiber Accelerator all working perfectly on my 4-monitor system.

As mentioned elsewhere, I have not yet found a way to view the Autopilot easily at night by clicking on the icon because it is very dark.  And when using the animations icon, selecting either the air stairs or the service door causes the main door to open/close.  All very minor details.  But this is a very complex aircraft, and Captain Sim has created an outstanding simulation.   :D :D

As the manual PART II – Aircraft and Systems, says in page 68:

6. Navigation Source Selector
Autopilot will track CIVA-INS flightplan:
- Autopilot Mode Selector should be in MAN position;
- Autopilot HDG Switch should be engaged;
- Autopilot Navigation Source Selector - pos AB;
- Heading Bug on Captain's HSI will be controlled by CIVA-INS.

So it looks like an improvement of  CIVA mplementation.

Yes, we changed Autopilot Navigation Source Selector for tracking CIVA from A to AB due to initialization issue.

SP2.6 works great except that I had a little problems during the 3 flights I made till now...

During the flight, I lose aviaonic power so the AP would turn off and then the CIVA INS could not follow the track anymore....

I need to turn on avionics master with the keyboard key I linked to the avionic master function...

Anyone know why I'm losing avionics during flight?

Thanks

I used to have the sudden loss of power/avionics problem in 2.4, but it doesn't happen to me in 2.6.

What you might try is set up your default flight with the Cessna 182, turn everything off, except for avionics, which should be on.  Then save that as the default flight.

Hi,

is the CIVA INS also in the VC available and modelled?

Best regards,

I just installed V2.6 and Dual CIVA.  The CDUs, MSUs etc
look OK and I'm reasonably sure that the panel.cfg file
has been correctly modified, but CIVA won't power on.
What steps are necessary to power on the CIVA? Has
the CIVA power-on procedure changed for V2.6?
I've tried C&D cockpit and just setting the MSU to STBY
but CIVA doesn't show any signs of life.
With V2.6,  are we now required to energize the 727
with battery,  Ext Power, APU, etc prior to setting CIVA
to Stby ?
  Any tips will be appreciated,
Best to all,
Ken

I found the problem.  A line in the -200 model's
panel.cfg was not numbered correctly.  The CIVAs
in the other 727 models powered on normally (the
clue  :D    My bahhhd..

I got the dual CIVAs to align tonight and loaded the first
9 waypoints.  All went well until I switched the AP Nav
source switch to "ab".  Then the plane went into a LH
turn and the HSI heading pointer started flashing
from the top of the HSI to the bottom repeatedly.
The plane will follow the FSX loaded FP with the GPS,
but not the CIVA.  Has anyone else seen this or
have any tips for a remedy?
Thank you,
Ken

Well, I got the dual CIVA to work properly by placing
the APNav Source switch in the "b" position.  The
"ab" position doesn't work for me.  I'd read in a post
that the "ab" position was correct.  At this point
I'm thinking that perhaps the "ab" position is correct
for the CIVA (single unit) that is included with the
727 but I have not tested this. I use the Simufly
CIVA add-on.

Ken,
Does the Accuracy Performance Index stay fixed at 5 or does it climb up to 9 while using dual cdu's? At 6 or higher does it turn to the correct heading for each leg without the heading bug jumping around? Don
