Title: SP 2.5 Discussion / Issues Thread
Post by David Paul on Jul 17th, 2015 at 8:01pm
So hopefully everyone gets 2.5 installed and fly a few flights to see how it is working.

I seem to be having some trouble with the CIVA INS alignment.   I have read the instructions that seem to be verbatim from the L1011 manual.  I have the L1011 and have no trouble with the unit in that bird.

I follow the same instructions to get it into alignment mode. but the index never comes down from 9, and the green light never illuminates.  I can switch to NAV mode anyway, and everything works as I think it is supposed to.

I am supposed to use the new NAV/GPS switch in the GPS position in order for the AP to track the INS flight plan, right?  The new manual section says you should stay in heading mode and switch the Nav Source Selection switch to FMS, but that switch isn't actually in the 727, is it?

The INS works fine for me, my issues are the flaps gauge never moves on two models, the third model, the freighter constantly cause a CTD. :'(

Your INS does the alignment correctly?  The API digit actually decreases from 9 to 5 or better?   The green ready light comes on when you get to 5?

Sorry to hear your troubles with the flaps and the CTD with the freighter.  So far I have only been testing the -100 passenger version, but I do have the freighters and will get around to testing them when I get this INS thing figured out.  If align works for you, it should work for me.  ARRRGH!!!!

You know, one thing you might try is uninstalling and deleting the CS 727 registry entries and then re-install, making sure to run as admin.

I too have no alignment problems with my installation.

Have you rebooted your computer since you've installed the 727?

Recently, I had an issue with the 737 and PDCS not working until a re-boot.

Might be worth a try.

Thanks Paul.  Restarting Windows didn't do the trick, but un-installing, registry wipe, re-installing, then immediately re-starting Windows after installing has got it sorted!

:D

Did a registry clean of leftovers and now I have my gauges and the freighter is not doing anymore CTD's.
Thanks guys for reminding me to do that.

On the INS issue, I do get to 0 with the green light at 5. Just make sure your brakes are on and your gps coord are accurate. That is where I slip up sometimes, entering them correctly with leading zeros.

Run Windows File Explorer, copy this string %APPDATA%\Microsoft\FSX and paste it in the address bar, Enter. Do you have dll.xml in this folder? If no, reinstall 727.

I did a registry clean up after the uninstall and that fixed my issues, had some leftovers from the uninstall. They looked liked something I had added and needed to be removed because it is was causing a conflict.

Post by David Paul on Jul 18th, 2015 at 9:24pm
I hope everyone with issues gets it working.  It sounds like purging the registry entries, and re-installing as administrator is fixing most problems.

I have got all variants working well.  It turns out that my problem with the INS alignment is caused by Active Sky Next.  The INS will not align with ASN running, but it will still go into NAV mode and operate properly from there.  Without ASN, it aligns perfectly.

This is a really great upgrade.  I love how the knobs and switches have a snappier feel to them now.  It reminds me quite a bit of the L1011.  Just crisper and better.

The only major thing I have changed is that I have reverted to the Michael2 FDE mods for all four variants.  (721, 721F, 722, 722F).  It just flies by the charts and numbers better, I think.  The FDE is improved with this update, but Michaels2 mods are still better, IMO.

The winglet feature in the animation panel is pretty nice.  I LOVE the fact that you guys threw in a little more eye candy with the "cabin cleanup" function!

Nobody beats CaptainSim for making a beautiful plane and VC.  This plane was my first payware, and it has always been a hoot to fly, especially hand-fly.  This update has really brought it up to date and added most of the goodies that the users have been adding by themselves for the last few years.

Well done, CaptainSim!   :D

I agree with you, and thanks for heads up about ASN and the INS I was just having the same issue. Now it is fun to do an ILS landing, which it now does almost hands free (keep yours hands on the throttle). :)

I just installed 2.5 and all looks good with my first very quick look around but one thing is curious.  I cannot get the flaps gauge to work.  The flap lever moves, the flaps themselves move but the gauge stays in the "up" position.  Anyone else have this issue.

All I need to do now is add the CIVA INS and think about the air file.

Which gauge are you referring to? The round one to the right of the EPR gauges?
Did you reboot your computer after installing the v2.5 update?

Title: Re: SP 2.5 Discussion / Issues Thread
Post by mark767 on Jul 20th, 2015 at 12:28am
Yes restarted.  Yes, the two gauges to the right of the EPR (above the 3 red lights).

Also just noticed as it was mentioned elsewhere the heading bug does not move.  I think I need to delete everything and try again. I had a bit of a bastardized install into Steam that I did by copy paste and I will bet that is messing things up.

Just to clarify, the verions 2.4 that I moved from FSX to FSX-SE was the strange install and this is what I probably did not fully remove.

Well, for what it's worth, I uninstalled and then reinstalled v2.5 (a couple of times even) and also had the heading bug not working.
I re-booted and then all was good again.

Don't know why...

One very minor problem - when I attempt to select the Air Stairs, located to lower right in the animations (A) icon, the Main Door opens or closes.  The Air Stairs when selected from the upper left work as they should.

If I select the red ALL from the animations icon, the rear stairs come down like they should.  Very minor issue on a very excellent update to the CS727!!   :) :)

Wonderful update. I very much appreciate the fixes and the additions and had a great time last night doing flights in it.
My only problem to date is the same as mark767 is having (see above). The flap gauges do not seem to work - the flaps themselves do work.

To fix the registry issues, use an uninstall program, e.g. Advanced Uninstaller, and it will find leftover registry keys. Select only the ones that are part of this aircraft. Then reinstall the aircraft and then restart computer, this is what worked for me, in my case the flap gauges and a CTD with the freighter. All is working fine now after I did that.

I am now having trouble.  Three flights in the -200F variant.  Flying from KCLE to KLGA.   All three flights when I get into the New York metro area, around 60-80 miles from KLGA, FSX crashes with the spinning disk and the "a fatal error occurred " message.

Bummer.    :-/

Title: Re: SP 2.5 Discussion / Issues Thread

So I uninstalled and re-installed again, this time leaving everything bone stock.

Every time I try to fly this flight, with any of the 727 package variants, I am getting the fatal error as I get to the NY metro area.  Usually between 55 and 80 miles from KLGA.

Can anyone confirm if you can make this flight all the way to approach and landing?  The routing is:

KCLE-FAILS-JFN-ETG-MIP-MARRC-BILEY-VIBES-FJC-LIZZI-BEUTY-HARLM-DREMS-APPLE-PROUD-KLGA

The farthest I've gotten is 55 miles from LGA Vor.
Then I get the Fatal Error Has Occurred message and the spinning disk thingy. :'(

I am flying with the FSX ATC.

Outsanding uptdate!!! Auto-pilot working great, V1 card added, and much more!!!

I had one flight with a issue on "heading bug". But on the second flight everything was ok. The same with the flap indicator, on panel: using my joystick buttons for lowering them didn't make the flap indicator move (the flaps moved btw). When I used F5 F8 keys the flap indicador moved. After this, the joystick buttons are working fine with the indicator.

The only issue I have is the same I had with 2.4 version: I can't put winglets on cargo planes. If anyone has the Amerijet livery from CS Library WITH winglets, please let me know. I tried everything: manually (adding ui_wglts=1) on aircraft.cfg, adding using CS ACE. Nothing works. :-[ :-[

You have to use the animation 2D panel.   If the model can have winglets, you click on the wingtip of the little plane in the animations panel.   Presto---winglets!!!

For the guys with the "flap issue", just goes in the engineer panel and turn on electrical feed to engine1. The flap gauge will work after that.

I just finished a flight from KCLE to KLGA, using the same VORs and intersections which David Paul wanted someone to test.  Used Plan-G3 to create the plan, saved it, then exported it as an fsx .pln file.  Did not encounter any problems or fatal error issues.  Used the Captain Sim 727-100 with Eastern Airlines livery.  Also using Active Sky Next and FSX Fiber Accelerator.  Hope this is helpful.

Thanks so much for that, Jim.  I appreciate it.

It turns out, after exhaustive troubleshooting, that it was a case of ASN not playing nice with FSUIPC, and/or ASN not liking my virtual memory settings.

This was not, as it turns out, any CS issue at all.

Got it fixed and several test flights have confirmed it is fixed.

Hopefully you enjoyed the flight from Cleveland to NYC!  I love that MIP4 STAR.  I usually fly it with just the Nav radios and the ADF.  It is a busy one when you are one guy flying three crew positions! 8-)

First, Thank you so much for the update and that wonderful plane! Am on 2.6 right now.
But i have a Little Problem with the EPR bugs. With previous Version and the 727 various fixes, the bugs moved to MCT when passing around 1000 feet above ground. But with the official updates, that automatic  does not work any more. I can push the knobs, and then the thrust Levers move to hold the EPR set, but i have to adjust the bugs manually. I installed as admin and with AV deactivated, all other things work as they should.
Any idea, am i doing something wrong?

David Paul.......I have the same Fatal Error messge you mentioned as I am nearing my arrival airport. I first thought it was my CS727 but I'm not so sure anymore. Can you give me some hints as to what to check?

I don't have a big system but it meets or exceeds the min requirements. I never noticed this happening before installing the CS727 but I know have had it happen one time flying the default 737 since installing it.

I'm not a computer expert but with clear instructions I can usually follow them pretty well.

Thanks for any help you can point me to.

Hey guys have a few problems with 727.  I have no sounds in the cockpit for any switches or the apu.  I only get engine sounds.  Also the flight director and autopilot will not work.   When I flip a switch on either one they just snap back to the off position.  Won't do heading hold altitude hold and the GPS/NAV switch does nothing.  The alieron and elevator paddles do stay on but with no control.   Haven't had these problems before.   I do have ASN and sim physics running as well as air hauler.

Jim, it was something to do with a combination of Active Sky Next and FSUIPC.  I forget exactly what it was, but it was a conflict between how they interact.  It may have been just needing to make sure FSUIPC was not involved in weather at all so that ASN could do its thing.
