Title: 777 1.6 in FSX-SE Post by David Paul on Apr 4th, 2015 at 5:17pm
I am wondering what the proper procedure should be to install the 777 into FSX-SE. When I run the 1.4 installer, it asks if I want to remove or repair. (I have it installed in FSX-Boxed already). I selected 'repair', pointed the installer to the FSX-SE main FSX folder, let it install, and then installed 1.6 on top of that. The plane is present in FSX-SE, but the FMS is apparently not able to find the FSX flight plan folder. I press the 'send request', then select FSX flightplans, but there are no plans listed.
Did I do something wrong? |

You need to run the 777 FSX-SE migration tool: http://www.captainsim.com/products/x777/fsx-steam-edition.html to get it working correctly in FSX-SE. ;)

Thanks, Mark. I appreciate the response.
Unfortunately, running the migration tool did not help with the issue I am having with the FMS loading an FSX flightplan. There are still no flightplans in the list. Can you confirm if that works on your end? |

Never mind---I figured it out! I needed to copy my flightplan files from Flight Simulator X Files to Flight Simulator X - Steam Edition Files in the My Documents folder.

I cannot find that folder for FSX:SE that you used in the demo on the website. I only have one called " Flight Simulator X Steam Edition files", and that folder is empty. Should I run the Steam files integrity checker for FSX:SE?

Sorry, I realised where it was, it works now.

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me loading a Flightplan in thw FMC.
777v1.6 FSX Steam Edition I have created a flight plan using the FSX Planner and saved the PLN file in \Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\Captain_Sim\navigation\routes. In the FMC I select RTE then SEND but no routes are listed. I created a copy of the route and saved as a *.RT file. That was listed in when I opened the FMC again - but FSX crashed as soon as I selected it. I would post a copy of the plan but don't have permission to add attachments or create a new thread. Thanks |

Save flight plans made with the default FS Flight Planner to Documents\Flight Simulator X - Steam Edition Files. To open/use them in the CDU/FMS, on the RTE 1 page, select SEND, then select FLTSIM FPLS (all your .PLN files should be visible on the CDU) and load your flight. To save the flight plan as a .rt file, save it using SAVE, which appears after you ACTIVATE the route. Changing the extension on a .PLN file won't make it an .RT file, which is why FSX-SE crashes when you load it. ;) |

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your reply. I found I didn't have the folder "Documents\Flight Simulator X - Steam Edition Files", just the original Documents\Flight Simulator X Files which must have been left when I uninstalled the original non-Steam FSX. One I created this folder and saved the Flight Plan into it, I was able to successfully load a flight plan. Graham |

I'm not sure if there was a deliberate choice by Dovetail to use the same folder as FSX uses - Documents\Flight Simulator X Files folder - as I am sure that originally my installation of FSX-SE pointed to Documents\Flight Simulator X - Steam Edition Files, and after one of the recent updates, it was no longer going there to open any flight plans that I had made and saved there. This could explain why you didn't have a Flight Simulator X - Steam Edition Files.
I have saved hundreds of flights and flight plans for FSX, whereas I only have half a dozen for FSX-SE, so it is possible that I went to the Flight Simulator X Files to load a flight or flight plan from there, rather than create one I already had, and FSX-SE remembers that that is where I went. :-/ |
