Wow.  You guys really rocked this update!   Everything seems so much smoother, and all the issues that I was aware of are fixed.

I really wanted to fall in love with this plane as much as I did with the 727 and 737 packages, but really couldn't with all the issues.  Now I am in love with this gorgeous plane. :)

Kai,

Your flight is in P3D v2? Are your strobe, wing and navigation lights working in P3D and, if so, how did you get them to work?

I presume you are running in legacy mode.

Title: Re: SP 1.4 is available!
Post by Kai-Uwe Weiss on Jun 20th, 2014 at 7:57pm
yes, the lights are working; I fly such planes for FSX and with a complex system deep in legacy mode. Only the sounds of switches and seat belts/no smoking were not to hear. I looked in the sound.ini and it looks like that there:

SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=1
SoundOffWhenSimIsPaused=1
SoundOffWhenSimDialogIsOpen=1
SoundOffWhenSimSoundIsOff=1

I put all of them to zero, tomorrow I'll check if the sounds are back again.

A first resumee: the plane works very well now! Superb starting, cruising and autolanding. Autopilot makes no problems at all and the performance is very well too, even in P3Dv2.2.

Kai awesome news but when you say legacy mode does that mean I need to keep Estonia tool running while running P3D or just use tool to install it - any other tweaks other than your sound to do ? thank you

Regards, Rich

Post by Kai-Uwe Weiss on Jun 20th, 2014 at 8:11pm
hi Rich,

after installing the Estonia tool you have a shortcut called Prepar3D v2 legacy mode. In your P3d- root folder there is a file called fsx.exe now. In the syntax starting the sim this file is attached and it looks like that:

"D:\Prepar3D v2\fsx.exe"

D is my volume for the sim. No other tweaks are nessessary to get the plane flying.
And yes of course, the tool is running. I didn't test without it and there is no reason for it, the tool makes no problems.

Kai,

It is not the case for me that, once having installed the CS777 Version 1.4 into P3D v2 using the Estonia Migration Tool, certain exterior lights work when running P3D v2 in legacy mode.

The lights in question are the wing lights (nav, wing and strobe) and the tail lights. Moreover, the beacon lights do work but are extremely faint. Although this does not detract from what appears to be most people's experience of a greatly improved and enjoyable virtual flying experience with the 1.4 update, I would be grateful if you kindly confirm that all such lights are working in your simulation and whether any special tweaks were required to achieve this.

I have read on the L1011 forum that special measures were required to get similar lights working with the L1011 on P3D, e.g. reloading the vehicle ( I have tried this with the CS777 to no avail).

Your comments would  be most welcome here, please.

Update to the above. I have just installed CS777 1.4 on a Windows 8.1 machine in
P3D v2 and the lights work correctly. I am now debugging my Windows 7 installation of P3D v2 to determine why the issues with lights persist there.

1.4 is a full installer, so backup any 3rd party liveries, then uninstall v1.2/1.3 and then install v1.4 Base Pack (777-200) and then install the Freighter (1.4 download needed for the 777 Freighter). ;)

Have purchased the P3Dv2 version of CS777 and am having problems with the speedbrakes. You cannot seem to arm the speedbrakes at all. Use of the Shift+/ keys extend the speedbrakes fully and does not arm them.

I shall be interested to know if other people take the plunge with the dedicated P3D version and experience the same issue.

Otherwise, I guess that the requirement to use the FSX version in Legacy Mode is as good as a thing of the past, as far as CS777 is concerned. I do hope I can get the speedbrake issue fixed as I'm beginning to like the CS777 a lot.

I can also add the fact that the chronometer and brake pressure gauges do not display properly with the P3D version.

Just checked out speedbrake arming in FSX with the FSX version and the same issue exists in FSX with the 1.4 update, i.e. the speedbrakes do not arm.

Am I simply trying to do something that cannot be done arming the speedbrakes on the ground with engines running, or is this a bug?

After further investigation the speedbrakes do arm in flight but not on the ground and the chronometer and brake pressure gauges do actually materialise correctly after a period of time.

As a footnote, it is possible to arm the speedbrakes on the ground with the competitor aircraft, but I'm not sure which model is truer to reality, although I cannot see any harm in the ability to arm the speedbrakes on the ground, e.g. in the event of an aborted takeoff.

I bought the P3Dv2 version too. The difference to the FSX-version may be small, under the hood. Using the fsx-version the sim crashed to desktop after clicking the terrain-switch. Now everything is okay.
The brakepressure gauge works for me. The amount of changing if I press the pedals is very small! From 3.2 psi to 3.0 psi is the varying amount and I have to stay at the brake for about a second to see it. With the speedbrakes I have the same behaviour too: on the ground the lever goes to full brakes but in the air I can arm it. It's okay for me.
A very nice plane, I like it very much! No comparison to the first versions delivered. But: during descent there is no deviation point beside the altimeter tape to watch if VNAV works correctly or if I have do make some inputs. Is there a hint to make it visible or is it a bug? It would be very nice to have it!

Kai

Here is the difference between the 777 panel folder both FSX (left side) and P3Dv2 (right side):

Notice that there are a lot less gauges in the P3Dv2 777 panel folder. ;)

You can arm the spoilers on the ground if you apply a little bit of throttle, but you get a red visual and an aural warning. The aural warning can be killed by pressing Master Warning/Caution Reset Switch. :)

Yes there are differences in both the gauge files and the switches/buttons in the VC (I think), but beyond that, I don't know.
Only you can decide whether to get the P3D version or not. :-/

Mark,

Many thanks for your investigations and I can concur the same behaviour with the speedbrakes governing the use of throttle to achieve arming, whilst on the ground. Whether or not this is a better reflection of real life I shall leave in the good hands of the development team, but I think I can live with this.

Finally got the chronometer and brake pressure gauges issue fixed, together with the (initial) absence of wing, nav and strobe lights. It would appear that, in my own experience, the sim needs to be left running for a while before the lights and gauges appear properly. Just a quirk, but I think I can live with it for what is a very good simulation.

Assuming that CS777 development has not now ceased, all I can say is that any future improvements and fixes will only make CS777 awesome and a very fit contender to the main competition.

I didn't try installing -300 and Freighter using the v1.4 installers for FSX. They might work, but it will depend on whether the models and the gauges are link together somehow. If that is the case, then I'm pretty sure they won't work. :-/

Folks on another unofficial forum have reported a similar thing. Once having loaded the aircraft, all buttons on the EFB are ineffective. Is your EFB operative 'straight out of the box', i.e. press the power button and select the pre-loaded charts?

Please share any information about your setup.

Could you provide more information on how you get the EFB working in P3D V2.2?  Are you perhaps running P3D V2.0?

I know there were significant .XML processing changes between V2.0 and V2.2 -- I noticed the cs_efb.xml has invalid comment character ";" which is not support in more strict XML processing.

Unfortunately removing the ";" comment line from the cs_efb.xml has not solved the problem for me.

Any hints welcome.

Hi guys!

Very excited that 1.4 came out for Prepar3d.. I'm a bit bummed that I already purchased the FSX one only a week ago though :/

My question is, when I go to install the product, I enter order code.. then in next screen, it doesn't automatically find the simulator folder, regardless wether I'm using the migrator tool or not. The 'NEXT' button is greyed out, no matter which folder I select.

I scoured the forums and googled.. but could not find any answer. Guys I'd love some help desperately if you could. I essentially have purchased this product twice and have no way of running it.

Your help will be most greatly appreciated!

Kind Regards,

J

It sounds like the activation isn't working. Try a Manual Offline Activation.

And in case you miss it, here is where you use the code_xxx.txt to get your key (key_xxxx.txt): http://www.captainsim.com/activ/offline.php

Altigo,

If you only have the B777-200 main package (Panel and Model), uninstall that from your system, delete all CS777 folders, download 1.4 and install that. Reboot your PC, then run FSX and select your B777 to cross check.
If you have the expansion like the 300ER and Freight. Also get the latest version which is also 1.4 from CS and install that.
Reboot your PC, run FSX and select the 300ER or freight to cross check.

A/T is perfect?

Well it depends, my VR speed shows 162 kts and the speed tape maintained that on wheels up. Click AP with VNAV/LNAV command with speed restriction of 250kts below 10,000...again the speed tape followed that speed.
Climb trust above 10,000 ft with FMC show 310kts on the climb up to cruise level of Mach.83, again the speed tape also followed that.

Climb mode change to VS, from FL350 to FL370 again it followed the command i gave on the MCP and it maintained (did not go fast and did not slow down) the Mach.83 speed during step climb.

ND, the arc indicator of the TOC was on the spot. Before previous version(s) it was all over the place.
That goes the same with TOD, but i usually go down a bit early for all my arrivals.
So ..yes, the A/T and FMC AP command did what it supposed to do on this latest version.
I'm a another company user and i respect this latest version and will get all the 200ERS out of my hangar back to my FSX operations.

Greetings all. First time poster, but long time owner of the CS 777 (had it since the initial Beta) and owner of a bunch of other CS models.

First up, a big thanks to the dev team, and those in the forums who've been providing them with feedback. Finally we have a product that not only looks good, but now appears to function almost perfectly. I must admit to being very frustrated with earlier releases but am now a happy customer. I have now gone on and bought the 777F add-on and if things continue to be solid will probably buy the 300.

Have taken the 1.4 release on 4 legs now, was going to list the things that were improved but basically all of the things I had issues with in the past are now are gone so won't bother with that. I did notice one oddity on startup during one flight, had auto-start selected and cranked the right hand starter but the left engine actually started up. To get the right engine to start I had to cycle the left crank position. Hasn't happened since but will let you know if I can repeat it.

Keep up the good work.

Every now and then I have the N2 rise to 122 and the red visual and aural warnings come on, but I've never experienced the engine start switches starting the opposite engine. :-/

I can't install 1.4. He want exterior model before install 1.4.

This is the message when I try to install 1.4:
"The 777-200 Exterior Model must be activated on your computer before the product installation. Please exit the installer, install the 777-200 Exterior Model and try again."

This is my filename on my Extended Download Service page:

I just bought the CS777 for P3D2, I have 2.2 installed and Saitek Pro Yoke, Rudder and Switch.
Right after loading the aircraft
Aircraft's yoke is stuck to the left
Rudder don't work
Brakes don't work
Yoke not working until take off (have to rotate using trim...)
Spoilers not working
Flaps change in the panel but don't change in the aircraft.
A/P not engaging

What should I do?

Sounds like your activation failed. You need to do a full uninstall/reinstall.

Check-in to Your Profile > Product > Customer Support > Search KB - Search for KB #685, and follow the instructions.

I strongly suggest that you do the Manual Offline Activation method rather than the Instant Online Activation. I use this method of activation all the time now. ;)

So I uninstalled, installed again, I still need to load another aircraft, for example the Airbus Extended, then load the CS 777 to make it work.
My EFB doesn't work, as well as the LNAV, RNAV...
It's very frustrating to buy an aircraft full of bugs...

Well, finally a version that at least can fly...

However the annoying TCAS issue is still there: the system identifies the own plane as traffic and keeps alerting.
I have to keep TCAS on standby position.
It is a FSX issue. Not trying it on P3D.

I have no idea why you are having a problem with LNAV and VNAV, they are working nicely for me. :-/

There are times when the final few waypoints in the STAR/TRANS get removed from the CDU LEGS page, usually around the time I capture the LOCALIZER, but that doesn't affect the capture of the ILS or GS and it performs a very nice autoland, including the flare.

Same here.Same here. Lnav and Vnav do work for me if I start a flight with a default plane say the trike and then switch to the 777.BUT. If i pause fsx and go back to it after say 1 hour annd unpause FSX LNAV and VNAV make no sense again  >:(. What a pita

I too have the problem Mark wrote about where the final few waypoints are removed, but I too am able to capture ILS or GS. Sometimes it is tricky depending upon which airport, and your final approach altitude is, but it is doable. Sometimes it just takes practice ::).
Maybe CS will resolve this issue in the next release ;D

I installed sp 1.4  but now I can´t turn on the three NAV lights on the overhead panel , the buttons are  dead and I can´t see the 2D cockpit . Doesn´t it have a 2D cockpit ? Do I have to insert route into the FMC thru virtual cockpit?

Thanks

Have installed sp 1.4 for CS 777 . Got some issues:beacon,NAV,logo buttons are not active,  fuel pumps, battery, APU GEN , window heat buttons and many others more on the overhead panel aren´t active either.
When I run FSX , MCP panel reads these messages : ELEC AC BUS R, ELEC AC BUS L , WINDOW HEAT, EQUIP COOLING OVRD , TRIM AIR R/L,
PACK R, PACK L, MAIN BATTERY DISCH , etc.
The thing is this plane used to have  a 2D cockpit  thru which I accessed FMC . How can I access FMC now? Thru virtual cokpit?

1. Uninstall the 777 Captain.
2. Reboot your computer.
3. Reinstall the 777 Captain (use the 'Run as administrator' option for Vista/Win7/Win8/Win8.1)
4. Reboot your computer.

Now....You might need to run FSX as an administrator. Especially if FSX is installed in C:\Program Files! I run FSX using the 'Run as administrator' option all the time, even though my FSX is installed well away from C:\ and C:\Program Files! My FSX is installed on another drive and partition (J:\Flight Simulator X)).

For instruction #1 - You might need to do a complete uninstall. See KB #685 for full details (Check-in to Your Profile > Product > Customer Support > Search KB). If you do that:
For instruction #3 - Try using the Manual Offline Activation option. 1) This will allow many activations, without exceeding your activations (it only counts as one activation). 2) The chances are that it will succeed, whereas the Instant Online Activation may fail.

Hope this helps

One more thing. Turn your Anti Virus program off (or disable the shields) because sometimes they see the installer (or a file being installed) as a threat and it will block the installer from installing properly or prevent/remove the file it considers to be a threat.

No files being installed by the Captain Sim installer are threats to your computer. ;)

Hi all.

I have the gear issue as well, but I just bought the plane last night, so I have no other experience with it, but When I start the engines are on and the gear level is up and the left seat control column is hard over to the left.

Also, can I remove the captain seat? It gets in the way of my cockpit views.

I am grateful . All buttons are working just fine. Though I am facing an old issue with the 777 I used to have in the past. More often than not , I take off and an alarm sounds  alerting the plane is  stalling , and , guess what, I crash the 777 down . I think it has to do with the payload and fuel weight . The G.W I put into the FMC is the one I got from FSX menu. Is it right , I mean how can I calculate the gross weight to put into the FMC. Sorry to bother you...

Note - the ACE icon for the 737 is still on the taskbar. Also, my F-Secure said I had a virus, which it claims to have removed.  Do I need to turn off my antivirus software, then reinstall the 777?

Delighted/surprised to an update! I was wondering what--if anything--was happening to this a/c.

The only thing that was bugging me was the ILS alignment so any code optimization and FPS-gain is icing on the cake. I'll post a benchmark in case anyone else aside from me is interested in what sort of gains we may be able to get... most importantly in the VC.

But yeah, the 1.5 update file is corrupted; it's only 7mb. This was all news to me in the first place so I'm certainly not about to start whining...

Jim, we have just tried to install 777 from scratch + update 1.5, the ACE is functional. Please try complete reinstall without antivirus, it had obviously considered ACE as virus and removed it.

When I tried to use the ACE 777 icon to change the passengers and cargo, it immediately triggered my F-Secure software, which said I had a virus, and the virus would be removed.  The name of this virus is Gen:Variant.Barys.834.  The virus was blocked and quarantined.  Am currently running Microsoft Safety Scanner - 1.0.3001.0 to check all files on my flight sim computer, but this is taking hours to complete.  I don't know what this virus is or what bad things will happen to my computer, but it all started when I uploaded the latest V1.5 update to the Captain Sim 777.  Very frustrating!

ACE for the 777 is no longer usable.  Says 'ace_777 has been changed or moved, so the shortcut no longer works properly'.  When I load any aircraft at Seattle (KSEA) the plane appears to be in a huge hole.  I have no idea what happened.  F-Secure quarantined the virus, and said to restart the computer.  None of the other airports I have tried seem to have this problem (KBFI, KPDX, KGEG, KSFO).  I am using ORBX scenery for the Seattle area as part of their Pacific Northwest scenery.  Saved a screenshot but not sure how to post it in this forum.  The ACE icon for the 737 works normally.  I am using DX10 preview mode in FSX with Steve's fixer.  Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this?

I am able to fly the 777 with the latest V1.5 update, though if I start at KSEA I have to fly through moving cliffs on the runway.

Reinstall the 777 v1.5 update making sure your Anti-Virus programme is off/disabled. Run the installer by right clicking on it and selecting "Run as administrator".

You might need to add the location of the download to the Anti-Virus "exclude" list as well so that it will leave the installer alone while it's updating the 777 Captain.
You might also need to add the FSX\Captain_Sim\777\ace folder (the ace_777.exe is in that folder) to the Anti-Virus "exclusions" list so it doesn't delete it when you run it. :-/

BitDefender, Agnitum, Comodo, ESET-NOD32 do not cause this alert. We are working on it.

It appears that the scenery for KSEA is the only airport affected that I know of.  Have posted on the FTX forum, since I am using their PNW scenery for that area.  I am reluctant to try reinstalling the 777 again at this time.  I don't have to use ACE, but need my KSEA scenery to work again.

My problem with KSEA scenery has been resolved.  Holger Sandman in the FTX forum suggested re-running the GTX Vector Configuration tool and the airport elevation tab.  Did this and KSEA is now OK.  Still have the virus in quarantine, and ACE for the 777 does not work.  Later I may try to get ACE to work, but for now will use the fuel and payload options in FSX.  Thanks for your help and quick replies.

I just installed it fresh to 1.5 and haven't flown it in a long time...been waiting for this update.

I noticed a couple of things that seemed weird to me, maybe im doing it wrong but when I start the engines, I flip the fuel levers at 20% N2 and the engines spool up to redline almost instantly...warnings going off...and then I had the plane loaded to around 80% approx 560k lbs and I needed 60% n1 to start taxiing and I get the flap position warning ...seems kinda strange.

like I said I haven't flown it in a while and maybe I missed some stuff here...maybe someone came up with a better engine thrust  setting etc.

anyone else having similar experience? or is that the way it's supposed to be?

btw my 777 ace is working fine for me, I used the icon in the fsx folder to open it...

This always happens to me when I first install an update for the 777, since about v1.3. After I reboot my computer, it rarely (if ever) happens again. By this I mean I had these problems with updating/installing v1.3 in FSX, v1.4 FSX/P3Dv2 and v1.5 in FSX/P3Dv2 in both Win7 and Win8.1! So that's a total of about 10 installs. In one of the earlier versions, it wouldn't happen all the time, only every now and then.
