Title: Knobs
Post by Haris Baig on Oct 3rd, 2013 at 4:01am
Hello Guys,

I just got the 767 and i got a problem.  The autothrottle speed bug wont move.I cant select speeds or roll the knob I tried installing as Admin but it didnt have any effect. I also tried with FD on and AT Armed but didnot work.

Any fix for this. Thank You. Apart from this issue, it is a fantastic aircraft.

After first loading the 767 into FSX, if the Speed Indicator reads 000, and the Altitude Indicator reads 00000, then try reloading the 767.

It might simply be that your eyepoint is INSIDE the headrest on the Pilots Chair (this will prevent you from interacting with any buttons and switches in the VC, but have no affect on the 2D panels). Use CTRL+BACKSPACE (the default keyboard command) to move the eyepoint forward until it is outside the headrest, then try rotating the knobs.

If the Speed Indicator reads 200, and the Altitude Indicator reads 10000, but the knobs still don't work after moving the eyepoint, then I suggest you reinstall the 767 using the Repair option. If your OS is Vista/Win7/Win8, then make sure you use the Run as administrator option.

Hi Mark,

The Speed Indicator reads 200 and Altitude reads 10000. The values cannot be changed in 2D view also. Ill try the repair option to see if that fixes it as Run as Admin did not fix it.

Thanks. Ill report tomorrow.

Try a Manual Offline Activation. This will require you to do a complete uninstall as per KB #685:

KB #685:

Q: How to reinstall a product?

A:
Quite a number of "issues" are caused by using of outdated version of a product. Prior to submitting a support request please make sure you have current version of a product.

To reinstall a product please perform the following steps in exact order:
Uninstall the product:
1. Go to Start> Programs> Captain Sim.
2. Select the product you wish to uninstall.
3. Click uninstall icon.

Install the product:
4. Make sure you have the latest version of the product
5. Run the product installer (the .exe file) and follow the prompts.
Please note: valid Order Number and Internet connection are required for installation/activation.

Please make sure you run the installation file as Administrator and that "User Account Control" is disabled (for Vista and Windows7), it limits admins ability to install programs.

If regular reinstall did not fix your problem you can try to clean registry.
Please be careful and do it on your own risk!

How to clean Registry:
1. Uninstall the product
2. Go to Start> Run. Type: regedit, click OK.
3. Find the product entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CaptainSim\ (please note, for Windows 64bit versions it is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CaptainSim\)
For example: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CaptainSim\C130XPRO
Make sure you are going to delete correct folder!
4. Delete the product entry folder.
5. Restart your computer.
6. Install the product.

If you stil have issues and the above does not help we must admit your system configuration is a rare exception. You can try to install the product on another system or request a refund.

Good night and good luck with it tomorrow. ;D

Hi Mark,

Unfortunately, none of the procedures worked. i tried Offline Install, Repair Install but none worked. Hopefully, someone from CS can comment on this issue.

My dear friend, you are in a difficult position ! No panic !

If I were you I would do this.
Give the shaft a shot of W40. !  ouf  ;D
second, get out of FSX.
Next go to your start up programs and remove them all
( in an effort to give your computer more breathing room  :) )
sign off and restart.
what if.....
I love the 767, it is a great plane, I fly her often, she also has great legs ! :)   8-)

Let me try to explain.

W40 (WD40?) is probably a lubricant type of substance (I'm guessing) - he is just joking.

Exit FSX
Uninstall FSX and EVERYTHING in it and then reinstall it all again.

A lot of hard work, but it might just solve the strange issue you are having.

It's looking like I need to do this myself. I have strange things happening in FSX since my last repair. Time for a complete uninstall/reinstall of everything.

WD-40 is a lubricant oil that also displaces water (water displacement, 40th formula). It was originally designed to repel water and to prevent corrosion. Now, it can fix a lot more issues around the house (lubricate and loosen joints and hinges, remove dirt, and getting screws and bolts loosened).

I do know what WD-40 is, and what it does, I just wasn't sure whether Raymond means W40 or WD40.
I have since learned, that W40 is a Nuclear Warhead, so did Raymond mean that he should nuke his computer/FSX? Or did he just forget the D from WD40? I guess we need to wait for his reply. ;)

Mark, of course I was joking! read the line !
but the second part was real.

W40 is the household name of WD40
I always have a can handy at the house
I think it is banned in the maintenance of aircraft because it dries
gummy and sticky  >:(

Hello,

Well, even after the Windows re-install, the 767 knobs are not working. I have tried all the methods of activation but none of them have been successful. Someone from CS needs to deal with this either in the form of a refund or a product exchange because the 767 is useless.

Dont really wanna refund it as i love the 767 but this issue makes it completely useless.
