Title: My Weapon Doesn't Start up Any more
Post by Elmoslack on Jun 27th, 2013 at 6:07pm
I'm new here so be gentle with me. I am trying to use Weapon as I normally do (up until yesterday) and now when I click the loader I just get a red X button from my computer (no explanation) and an OK box to click? I'm not sure what has changed but it's frustrating. Does anyone have any idea what's gone wrong?

Have you tried reinstalling Weapon for FSX? That might fix the problem. Make sure to install it using the "Run as administrator" option if using Vista/Win7/Win8.

Any chance that your anti virus software is blocking it from opening correctly?

Hi Mark. Thanks for getting back
I have done everything as suggested. Weapon Works but I have lost the Loader. I have re-downloaded the product with all UAC, Firewall and MSE and then re-installed clicking on trust software. As it worked a few days ago I believe that Win 7 is having issues with not being able to recognise some software as genuine. Could this be an ActiveX issue??

It's possible that a recent Windows update messed it up. You would need to either uninstall the updates, or restore your computer to an earlier time.

Hard to say. The loader has always worked fine for me in Windows 7, which I have been using since the release date (22 October 2009).

Have you tried running the Loader with the "Run as administrator" option? That might fix the problem.

Yes I have re-installed as per instructions, as administrator, and I even cleared the registry entry. This time it asked for my product number and I felt sure the loader would work this time. It didn't. Weapon works with the CS FA18.
I have manually cleared Weapon panels from all my 3rd party aircraft but some still come up as "armed" in the FSX aircraft selection menu. Are there any entries I may be missing?
Also I should mention that my FSX is in <C:\Microsoft Flight Simulator> not the standard Program Files.

Are you game to try adding it to other aircraft manually? I do a lot of mine this way now. Doing it manually, I can place the Panels ([WindowXX] entries) wherever I want.

You will need to

1. Copy the CSWeapon.xml from the FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_FA-18 folder into the folder of the aircraft you are adding it to (i.e. FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\RAZBAM A-6A Intruder folder).

2. Copy the HUD_Glass.bmp from the FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_FA-18\panel folder into the panel folder of the aircraft you are adding it to (i.e. FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\RAZBAM A-6A Intruder\panel folder).

3. Add the following to the [Window Title] section of the panel.cfg:

  WindowXX=Weapon Control Panel
  WindowXX=HUD
  WindowXX=HUD Glass

4. Add the [WindowXX] entries in the panl.cfg:

  [WindowXX]
  Background_color=0,0,0
  no_luminous=1
  size_mm=1024, 170
  position=7
  visible=0
  window_size=1.000, 0.170
  ident=10901
  zorder=2
  gauge01=CSWeapon_panel!CSWeapon_panel, 0, 0, 1024, 170

  [WindowXX]
  Background_color=0,0,0
  no_luminous=1
  size_mm=400, 400
  position=4
  child_3d=0
  visible=0
  window_size=0.380, 0.600
  ident=10902
  zorder=1
  gauge00=CSWeapon!hud2d, 0, 0, 400, 400

  [WindowXX]
  file=HUD_Glass.bmp
  size_mm=1024, 768
  no_luminous=1
  position=7
  visible=0
  window_size=1.0, 1.0
  ident=10903
  zorder=0
  alpha_blend=0.35

On many of mine, I don't have the HUD_Glass entry included because I rarely use it.
I know this doesn't solve your Loader problem, but at least it's a way of working around it. :-/

Note: XX means the next available consecutive number. i.e Window09, Window10, WindowXX (where XX is replaced with 11).[/i]

Great info thanks.  Luckily I'm familiar with the file FSX structures.
With this info I can go into each affected aircraft and remove the offending files and then hopefully solve the problem or I will in future, add Weapon load files manually.
I'll follow up with the results.

At least it will allow you to add Weapon for FSX to other aircraft! I'm just sorry I can help you get the Loader working. If a solution to the problem comes to mind, I'll be sure to let you know. ;)

Have fun! ;D
