Title: VC Removal
Post by tbtriumph on May 30th, 2013 at 11:07pm
I was hoping someone could help me or walk me through the steps of removing the virtual cockpit just like the 777 PAX, i discovered in this variant FSX runs incredibly smooth without the VC. specifically for the 777-300. thanks!

Hi,
Do you want to fly the aircraft without a cockpit?

Had some strange requests on this site and this would have to rate into 2nd place!

About all you can do is find and install the original B772 exterior product, then I doubt you'll be able to use the 773 textures.

I, for one, am not going to waste my time experimenting with it and very much doubt anyone will.

To remove the VC by going to FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B777-200ER_GE\model.200ER_GE folder, open the model.cfg (with notepad) and comment out the interior model. Like this:

[models]
normal=..\model\csx772_ER_GE
//interior=..\model\csx772_interior

If you just want the PAX cabin, then you change it to this:

[models]
normal=..\model\csx772_ER_GE
interior=interior=..\..\CS_B777_PAX\model\csx772_pax_interior

You will need to do this to the model.cfg in the FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B777-200ER_PW\model.200ER_PW folder. Like this:

[models]
normal=..\model\csx772_ER_PW
//interior=..\..\CS_B777-200ER_GE\model\csx772_interior

or to have the PAX interior:

[models]
normal=..\model\csx772_ER_PW
interior=interior=..\..\CS_B777_PAX\model\csx772_pax_interior

And finally for the model.cfg in the FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B777-200LR\model.200LR_GE folder. Like this:

[models]
normal=..\model\csx772_LR_GE
//interior=..\..\CS_B777-200ER_GE\model\csx772_interior

or to have the PAX interior:

[models]
normal=..\model\csx772_LR_GE
interior=interior=..\..\CS_B777_PAX\model\csx772_pax_interior

I'm pretty sure there some coding embedded in the csx772_interior.MDL, so you might have problems with things no working IF you don't at least have the PAX model (csx772_pax_interior.MDL) included. Just something to take into account.

Dunno about your system Mark, BUT if you comment out the interior model the exterior gets lost as well!

NOT that easy! OK if all that is required is to PAX B773. What for?

Okay. I missed the bit "specifically for the 777-300"!

But .... I can see the exteriors on mine after commenting out the interiors. :o

See:

Here is the CS_B777-200ER_GE (American Airlines)

with the model.cfg modified to this:

[models]
normal=..\model\csx772_ER_GE
//interior=..\model\csx772_interior

And here is the CS_B777-300ER_PW (All Nippon Airways)

with the model.cfg modified to this:

[models]
normal=..\model\csx773_PW
//interior=..\..\CS_B777-200ER_GE\model\csx772_interior

How do you fly without the VC? The 2D pop up doesn't have the upper panel and other misc stuff.

Dude..just get a new PC, they are cheaper now and the economy is getting better. Here in the US that is.............

Maybe he would like to get a new model of commercial Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. Big ones, of course. How about call them B777 UAV? Think about airlines profits. All flights controlled under the remote control of pilots on the ground. :o

thanks for the help guys, and removing a few files vs. spending money on a new computer (which would have to be an origin) i figured id give it a shot.

Interesting but my Core 2 Quad runs the CSX 777 quite smoothly without any hassles, perhaps Mark has to tweak hi machine to get the sort of response he wants,I googles Jesus Bojote's FSX tweak tools;his online tweak tool should be able to help you out on this...I also suggest he gets a new Nvidia Video Card,it will go a long way to help.
Secondly,I learnt that CS wants to release a version 1.2,how true is this Thanks. :)

The funny thing with the 777 is that even IF the frame rates drop to 10 fps, it is still smooth. It does not stutter or look like a slideshow. On one occasion (when I was testing how high I could get my settings), I noticed the frame rates drop to 6 fps, but again it did not stutter or look like a slideshow. It was smooth. I'm not sure if this is because the CPU (i7 3770K @ 3.5 GHz) handles it differently to my old CPU (i7 870 @ 2.93 GHz), but it is really smooth.

As for my GTX 470, I can play some of the latest games with great frame rates. I count it that with the i7 3770K, it does really well with these games, even though I have had the graphics card for 2 years and 10 months. I do plan to get an Nvidia 4GB GTX 670 OC graphics card in the future, I'm not in any hurry to get it. ;D
