Title: 747 Classic wish list
Post by Caribflyer on Mar 29th, 2013 at 8:45pm
After the preview of the L1011, I was think it would be nice for everyone to voice their thoughts on what they would like to see IF CS ever decided to create the 747 classic series.

Personally I would like to see an option for having INS or FMS navigation as well as conventional engine gauges along with an option for the newer Electronic engine display and the older Tape version.

I can only assume that if they ever made the 747 Classic it would include the 100/200 both pax and cargo versions and possibly a 300 varient. It would surprise me if we also saw an Air Force 1 varient as well.

One last option I would like is the ability to use 3rd party gauges. I know that CS can't give us every single option under the sun but it would also be nice to have the option for adding an EFIS display as some of 747 Classic operators have installed. Immediately Kalitta Air comes to mind as they have totally modernized their fleet of 747 Classics.

If CS ever makes the 747 classic it should definitely include 747-100/200 as basepack as those two have only minor differences between each other, then 747-300 and 747SP & cargo version of 747-100 & 200 as expansions.

And yeah I agree, having both INS and FMS would be nice.

Absolutely!! ;)

Sorry, but INS only would be my preference there though. Just like in their 707. 8-)

there is no INS (working) in their 707.
Community has find the way to have it in a 2d panel pop-up...
there is a big différence ;)

Allow me to correct you on that one. The default 707 installation offers a separate panel.cfg (from CS) to run a single INS unit via popup and the VC 'dummy'. The things you are seeing as community-made additions are the twin unit installations or other modifications of that concept.

So, yes, CS does offer an INS variant for the 707 right out of the box.  :)

I hope it's something like this...

747-100 Base pack
747-200 Expansion
747 C/F (100/200)
747SP
VC-25 and or...
NASA 747-123 (SCA)
:)

Well it shouldn't be a problem for CS to have two versions, one with INS and one with FMC.

I would like to add my 2 cents on this FMC debate...

there is a great 747 with an FMC available and it's going to be a bit nicer here soon...

I hope CS keeps it a "classic"...no after market mods.

and I feel the same way about the 300, might as well fly the 400 :)

Whatever, those who want to fly with INS can do so even if CS makes also a version with FMC, it's only plus to have multiple different versions.

probably not my best post but...
you can get mad at me once they agree to do it, how'bout that.

it'd be nice to have, just not necessary imo.

I fly 747-236B (real world sim) all the time so it would be nice to have one at home...retrofitted with an ND and FMC.

agree.
there is currently lot of -200 or -200f in service with FMC.
It's a good addition for a modern or 80/90 addon style

Yeah 747 classic, DC-8, DC-10, those are the only options that would really make sense for CS to make in the future... Unless they go and develop Russian birds which I find very unlikely, proper Sukhoi Superjet could sell okay though.

Yeah it would be amazing to see the 747 Classic made by Captain Sim, I would get myself one for sure.

Lets wait and see if it happens.

Also the Douglas DC-8 and possibly the Convair 880 and the 990 maybe, it would be simply THE best collection of classic crafts to have, now that the TriStar is in the house.

Those are on my Wishlist also.

I keep dreaming... ::) and sorry if I have mentioned this in another thread but...

I hope to see just a portion of the interior modeled. I know it would be a huge project to model the whole thing and since the 777 interior is way too much to add to the VC. I think just the Upstairs lounge or Business class and maybe the first two sections downstairs with the spiral staircase. I'm not sure what the(a)common configuration was...first class and then biz or right to economy with biz upstairs. At any rate, imo it would be great to be able to look out the cabin window and see the wing(flex) and engines (lights on wingtips :D)etc.

something like these pics would be nice.(I know it's a mod freighter, just for an idea)

I know CS would do an awesome classic 747

the groovy lounge would be fun...

I really like the CS interiors, I think it adds a lot to the sim but it is more of an after thought.

Here's to hoping! ;)

Lockheed Martin recently released an SDK for Prepar3D that, if I understand it correctly, allows for larger MDL files to be created. I'm not 100% sure that I understand it correctly. It's not always easy to find what you are looking for in the SDK, which is similar to the MS FSX SDK documentation. Please don't take this as being a fact, I might have got it wrong, but I hope not.

Hint, hint ;)

Yeah. It would be nice to see, so I'll keep dreaming about it too. ;D

It really seems like the developers are hitting their stride now in FSX. Too bad it's a dead end so to speak, it will be interesting to see where it goes with the "new & improved" platform.

If that is the case and CS moves on to P3d seems like you would be able to do the whole plane, even something as big as the 747-100...I, of course know nothing about this new SDK.

I will say this, however nice the 777 cabin is it is a bit of overkill, I wish they had it incorporated into the VC from the git... & everything doesn't have to be animated. Maybe a few choice spots, a few overhead bins...etc. ;)

Reading the info on the new P3D SDK, it is backwards compatible to FSX, but is updated to do better for dedicated P3D development. P3D is getting a lot of support from products, which I believe is due to ease of updating it. A lot of products have an FSX and P3D choice for installing. You need to install it twice, but you get be able to fly it in both. All of Captain Sim's FSX products are working fine for me in P3D already, but I had to copy and paste everything from FSX, as well as edit P3D's DLL.xml file.

Like I said, it sounds like that, but, as I said, I'm not 100% sure. I have now installed the P3D SDK, but I have not looked at it yet.

I agree. If they shrink it down to only First Class, like it is in their 757, it would be great. I honestly don't think that lessening the animations will reduce the interior MDL size enough to combine the with the VC, so we might only get half (or less) of the Cabin. But I would love to have at least that. In a 747 and in the 777. :)

I see a curve up ahead :) I'm sure you're right about new SDK.

Always a pleasure Mark, & thank you for the insight, as always.

I hope they are making this plane. The market sorely is lacking with a decent 747 -100, the CLS version is rather lacking.

And I hope they include lots of passenger things to mess with. Love that spiral stair case and upper deck.

Hi,

I would also like a CS 747-100/200. Same level of complexity as in the 707.. The RFP 742, but in modern FSX clothing so to speak.

I care less about all the animations and passenger cabin. Rather my preferences would be:
- INS only, no FMC or GPS. I would be happy with the Civa from Simufly, but please in original triple configuration.
- Flight decks in either round engine guage or tape style engine guage configuration.
- Sounds with all three engine versions, i.e RR, GE and PW.
