Title: FMC from ISG
Post by Axel on Feb 23rd, 2013 at 11:24pm
Hi,

has anybody managed to integrate the FMC (ISG or any other 3rd party) into the VC?

I did it with the old 707 for FS9 by CS. On the 737 I cannot find space on the console.

INS was not widely spread over the airlines. LH has installed one INS in each 737-200. But I suppose it's not planned to model one for the VC by CS. Since they still did not get the source code from the original developer. Maybe they can make their own :)

Best regards,

Axel

Now that's a really good idea!!! It would be great if Captain Sim were to do that! ;D

Hi Mark,

let's hope ;)

Well, if an FMC is implemented then the PDCS is no more required since the speeds are calculated via FMC, right? I could place the FMC (Smith) on the PDCS position and put the WX radar control unit to the starboard side of the console or below the WX itself.
Now the big BUT: I suppose that just removing is not possible since in the VC the PDCS and the WX control units are 3D modelled and fixed to the VC model. Can anybody confirm this?  :(

Installing the CIVA INS in the old 707 for FS9 was possible because the panel was fitted with 2D guges, if I remember correctly. Maybe someone can assist here :)

Best regards,

Axel

If you look at the attached image, I would have to say that the PDCS and WXR units are 3D modeled in the VC.

Hallo Mark,

right. They are 3d modelled, and I suppose that these cannot be removed and replaced by another gauge :(

Best,

Axel

Well, all you can do is try. My best guess is that is not going to be able to be done (Just a guess). Just remember your now talking about taking CS's work and altering it for what it was not intended, no matter how good your intentions are. Good luck in quest.

Personally, I would leave the PDCS in there. I would use the honeywell unit that comes with ISG for LNAV and continue to use the rest as is. You need something to be different, otherwise, you're just flying another FMC equipt 737.

Instead of the smith FMS you could use the ISG CDU which would provide you the flight plan and LNAV options and is a smaller panel to try to place in the texture if possible.

I do like navigating the VOR tuning way but I decided to try out an easier way by using an FMC in this bird. I managed to get it working quite well, with the Smiths FMS and MCU only. I like the analog HSI too much to replace it with a digital one, but if anyone wants I could put the EFS50 EHSI (only one that would fit properly) in the VC.

Hi,

can you post a screenshot where and how you installed the FMS in the VC? Thanks,

Axel

I didn't try to incorporate the FMS in the VC, it's just a pop up right now. I am currently working on getting the EHSI display in the VC. I think I would have to replace the PDCS with the FMS as that is the only spot for it, but I don't know how to change model bitmaps.

Has anyone ever successfully completed this because it would be amazing to be able to fly Rnav routes in the 732.
