Title: Engine start problem - (Ctrl+Shift+f4)

Is it just me or has CaptainSim not done anything about the problem where you have to press Ctrl+Shift+f4 or you cannot start the engines.

Try:
CTRL+E

Try [CTRL+E], as said by asanal.

[CTRL+SHIFT+F4] just open the fuel valves, as well as [CTRL+SHIFT+F1] close them.

Pinatubo.

Edit: Sorry, I read [CTRL+SHIFT+F4] in your post, instead of [SHIFT+ALT+F4] as you wrote.

I guess I'm getting old. Where are my glasses? :-/

Ooh I meant Ctrl+Shift+f4...  :-[ But doesn't Ctrl+E just automatically start the engines?

I use CTRL+SHFT+F4 to put the mixture to FULL RICH (open the FUEL CONTROL SWITCHES), and start the engines with the START/IGNITION Selectors. I don't need to use CTRL+E to start them.

In my effort to balance my posts against/in favour of Captain Sim:

To my knowledge, this key stroke requirement comes from the internals of the Microsoft sim. It's not related to a particular A/C or a particular developers's A/C. The fuel mixture should only apply to piston engines but Microsoft mistakenly made it a requirement for jet engines, too.

So it's not a bug of the CS 777, but rather an issue of MSFS erroneously putting a "mixture" parameter into jet engine operation.

But maybe a developer can combine a "start lever on" command (applied by us, the pilots) with an internal "fuel mixture full rich" command (applied by the code of the CS 777), so there would be no need anymore for us to apply this key stroke command ourselves ...

I must add, that touch wood off course i have not yet had this problem of the engines not starting, i follow basically the same principal as you would on the 747 or 737, on the 777 you need to close some valves to bleed air from the APU to the correct engine you want to start, once you have the fan moving moving (cant remember what the figure is right now) i flip the Fuel Cutoff switch to on, i then close the valves to the running engine and open the no 2 engine valves and do the same.

The default startup state of MSFS is 'engine(s) running' - default Cessna at Seattle, the ultralight over Friday harbour respectively. So whenever you switch to your favourite A/C, fuel mixture is already set to 'full rich' right from the start.

Try this one:
Load the default Cessna with engine running. Then drag the fuel mixture lever to 'full lean' (cutoff).
Now load another jet A/C (could be an addon A/C by a different developer or even one of the default jets).

As far as I remember, the jet engine(s) will be off. And to get them back to life again, your usual flow will not get them running again: You must set the fuel mixture to '(full) rich' at the appropriate time (by means of this key stroke command) to work yourself around the MSFS internal bug ...

An easy fix for this is to make sure that the aircraft used in the default flight (even if the engine(s) are off) has it's Mixture Lever(s) set to 100%, then you won't need t use CTRL+SHIFT+F4. ;)

I did you wrong on this one: Tried three add-on jets from three different developers today. Two out of these three do what you want Captain Sim A/C to do: They apply Ctrl+Shift+F4 automatically when I start the engines following procedures.

I own CaptainSim's 767 and 737 and both aircraft apply Ctrl+Shift+f4 automatically, so I'm wondering why they left this out on the 777. :-/

In which versions of the 737/767 had CS put it in? V1.0 already? Doesn't the 777 Captain appear a little bit like rushed to the market?

Well according to my installer, I have 737-200 V1.0 and 767-300 V1.5.
