Title: The 1.0 has been released
Post by Captain Sim on Jan 23rd, 2013 at 5:42pm

The 777 Captain (777-200) free update to version 1.0 has been released: http://www.captainsim.com/products/x777/sp1000.html

The 1.0 is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning. (W. Churchill)

* - Please note, FSX is a PC game. We would highly recommend to check the Users Manual and evaluate if the product meets your expectations.

Loving it! I reall like the the additions to the LCD displays like Flaps, Overspeed, ref etc. Doing a flight now from EHAM-EGLL to test it out. A lot of issues from before seem to be solved. Autopilot seems to be much better also  :D

Thanks,
Ryan

Great, took longer than I expected but anyway it's nice to have it out now.

I just hope I will get rid of crashing problems with my FSX...

I am crashing immediately.  If I go in Free Fight and enter as an example KSAN  to KMIA.  Edit Fuel, real world weather hit fly.  Loads.  Sim loads to runway and in 5 seconds or less <crash> Microsoft Flight Simulator has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.

please help - very frustrating.  Starting in Free Flight with a simple flight shouldn't be crashing in the new 1.0 release.  In fact, never had this issue in the previous 0.X releases.

How to get the 1.0?
1. Check-in to Your Profile.

2. In Your Profile click: Product (777 Captain) > Extended Download Service and download the 777 Captain (777-200) 1.0 to any folder on your computer.

3. Uninstall everything from the 777 Captain family. (Start> Programs> Captain Sim> 777 Captain> )

3. Make sure FSX is not runnung.

4. Double click the downloaded csx772_1000.exe file to install* the 1.0.

Instruction number 3 is important!

I took mine a step further though. I rebooted my computer after I uninstalled v0.9 and rebooted it again after I had installed v1.0. I have found that this works best for me.

Hi guys - thanks for all of the great ideas.  I have been onboard from the exterior release so have done all of the step upgrades so I am pretty familiar with doing the upgrades but I did from scratch.
1) turn off antivirus
2) Download the new 1.0
3) Remove Captain Sim 777 from the start menu and went to the actual 777 folder in the Captain Sim directory and erased it
4) Restarted (liked that idea Markoz)
5) Installed the 1.0 software
When I launch I went to free flight and set up a flight from San Diega (KSAN) to Miami (KMIA).  Dropped fuel to about 30%.  I have tried it with and without real world weather but it makes no difference
Hit Fly
The airport loads, engine sound spin up  I hit the brakes.  Crash.

I have no idea what this could be.  I haven't had an issue during the previos 6 or 7 releases like this one.  Any other ideas?

Thank You!

@bobmor. Have you tried starting the 777-200 Cleared for takeoff (KSEA) flight? See if that works.

Another thing. Sometimes the gear lever is UP instead of DOWN (like it should be), so it could be that once you gain enough speed, the 777 gets light on the gear and they start to retract. You should be getting a horn warning if the gear lever is up. Took me a while to figure out what it was the first time I heard it though. :-[

Brief test flight last night after downloading 1.0 and very much improved over 0.9.   One thing I noticed and maybe it was me but seems super slippery as far as acceleration.   Before I knew it was 300 knots and when coming in for landing, full spoilers, full flaps, gear down and throttles idle still seemed hard to slow down.  Was decending at 800fps through most of approach.

I typically fly manual approaches for the realism of flying rather than let the computer do a autoland.

Not upset with this one at all so far.   Still learning the systems but good overall.

Not sure about the crashing part, but I almost always have to load my flight with a default airplane first, then load the CS777. Otherwise a bunch of systems don't initialize properly.

There is definitely a problem with drag being too low in 1.0. Possibly engine thrust is too high as well, but CS should check drag first. Takeoff roll seems normal, but plane accelerates too rapidly after liftoff and is very difficult to slow down on approach even at max landing weight, spoilers, flaps, gear and idle throttle. I would guess the drag is set wrong in the FDE.

Markoz, regarding your installation instructions,(I guess more detailed than those from CS).I'm wondering if the "improvements" made in the previous versions, and now "overwritten" by Version 1  mods do not introduce new problems. If rebooting reorders the CS777 file contents, then,it would indicate that you think an uninstall does not eradicate all the original structure of the preceding  versions.Just saying, and I respect your experience, but we have to try and find a way of everybody singing from the same song sheet

Though I think it is a slick aircraft, once I get the flaps and gear down, it start to create a lot of drag. Add the spoilers to that, and I find it slows rapidly as long as your VS isn't too high 1000+ fpm.

Since I started using the spoiler to keep it from getting to fast when descending (STAR and Approach), my ILS landings have been much better.

Another trick I use to help prevent it getting too fast is to use the F1 key, sometimes holding it for a few seconds to help bleed off speed.

I even go to the point of removing the gauges from the Trusted section of the fsx.cfg as well as, but not always, removing any entries from the dll.xml file too. I often delete the default flights, that come with them, from my Documents\Flight Simulator X files folder as well. I did all that (except for cleaning up the DLL.xml) before installing 1.0.

If it's working without any serious problems, then that's good. It means that when you installed over the top of v0.9, it overwrote everything it should. I just prefer to install it so it's a squeaky clean install. ;)

I've been away from the 777 for a long time - and have lost the plot a bit as regards beta->1.00.

Does 1.00 now work for all areas - or is it still restricted in some way to around San Francisco?

Adam.

Hi Adam

Step III: 1.0 - an official and complete public release. This is what it is now.

Step II: Experimental - release of essential components (e.g. exterior model + VC + systems + sounds) in flyable (beta) condition. Version 0.X. This is ended with the release of Step III.

So if you bought the v0.x version of the 777, you can now go and download version 1.0. ;)

Update - I've spent some time with the 1.0 release since my earlier posts on the problems I was having and here's what I've found.  I cannot get the simulator to run using the free flight page (which is where I usually like to start my flights).  It let's me choose the 777, set up my route, set up my weather and fuel.  When I hit fly, it loads but crashes 3 seconds after the airport appears - and when I say crashes I don't mean the plane crashes the Program quits with Microsoft Flight Simulator has encountered an error and quits to desktop.  Next I did load the 777-200 cleared for TakeOff scenario which did load and didn't crash - THANKS Markoz!  I then went to Flight Planner from the file menu and set up my flight from there and it did seem to work.  While not a huge pain it sure seems like the 1.0 release would allow us to set up a flight from that start page in MSFlightSim but I'm not all that bugged by it.  At least I found a way to get up in the air and it seems to fly very well - but not sure if you all agree, it doesn't seem to have the 'weight' such a big plane would have.  I loaded up the plane with fuel and passengers and it felt closer to a 737 than a 777 as far as response and handling went.  But, I'll admit I've never flown a 777 before  :D.  I really like this plane CS.  Great job.

Yep - thanks for that, Mark. I'd grabbed it and installed it, but seem to have a whole raft of issues which I wondered if they had been due to the fact I was flying outside the "safe" area .

I'll post my issues elsewhere ... where appropriate.

No. Everything you need is included in the csx772_1000.exe installer.

Did you uninstall v0.9 completely first?

Yes I have sounds in the 777.

This is how I went about installing v1.0

Uninstall v0.9
Reboot computer
Remove registry entries for the 777
Install 777 (including re-activating)
Reboot computer

I'm not sure if that works the same if it's installed into P3D using FSX to Prepar3D Migration Tool.
I just copy everything for the 777 from to P3D and it works fine.

I unstalled  1.0. I also unistalled 0.9. In my profile there is no more link available for 0.9 only 1.0 link. I reinstalled 1.0 . I still don't hear switches clicks sound. Only annoying sound is beep like a battery on tor power4 supply. I cannot get rid of it, even all engines are started. :-?

"if it's installed into P3D using FSX to Prepar3D Migration Tool" YES, Iuse Migration Tool.

I didn't use the FSX to Prepar3D Migration Tool to install the 777 in P3D because FSX is still my primary Flight Sim. All I did was copy everything for the 777 from FSX to P3D.
So far, I've only done one flight in the 777 in P3D and it seems to behave the same as it does in FSX. It worked fine for me. Sounds and all. :-/

I done a full clean install of win7 over the weekend and FSX SP2 and started installing all my planes again. I came to the 777. Installed the base pack started up FSX then out and installed csu772_1000 and done all the online things i had to do. So its as clean as you can get. Got in the 777 for a flight and still had the same VNAV problems it would not clime and would not even hit 250kts. changed over and used V/S and speed up to 290 @8000 went back to VNAV and all it wanted to do was become a glider again ever so slowy sinking to earth. Is there a way to fix this yet or is it still a bug to be fixed ?
